The audience exchanged bewildered looks.
At that moment, Malva—the Fire-type Elite Four member and the broadcast host—froze for a second.
Her heart trembled with shock.
In Kalos, everything had always been under Lysandre's control. He considered the region his private territory, absolutely forbidding outside criminal organizations from stirring up trouble.
More importantly, according to his plan, by now he should have already taken control of Z2 and announced to all of Kalos that Team Flare was about to rule the world!
So why… had things turned out like this?

Malva felt the situation was unbelievable.
Standing right behind her, Team Rocket's bumbling trio—Jessie, James, and Meowth—had been filming the event.
Seeing this shocking scene unfold, the three glanced at each other before huddling to whisper.
"Heh-heh, I didn't think Giovanni would move this fast. He's already here in Kalos! Looks like he's completely taken over Team Flare. We can't let the boss down now!" Jessie's eyes burned with sudden ambition.
"That's right! If we help Giovanni achieve his dream of ruling the world, it won't be long before we…" James added with renewed determination. (Though he seemed to have forgotten just how rich and influential his own family already was…)
"Exactly, nya! We'll do this, and that, and then… that other thing! In the end, the boss will finally see how amazing we really are, nya!" Meowth schemed mischievously, though—as usual—all his ideas were harebrained.
Giovanni's projection broadcasted across all of Kalos, visible and audible to everyone.
Rainbow Rocket!
Ash exhaled slowly.
"So, they've finally made their move? I hope this doesn't end up being boring. Otherwise, it won't be any fun at all…"
"Pika?"
Pikachu tilted its head in confusion at Ash's words.
"Pikachu, it's time to meet some old acquaintances again."
Giovanni continued his speech.
With a snap of his fingers, Tobias obeyed his command. Xerosic, now under Rocket's banner, activated his device—unleashing control over Z2!
A Zygarde in its 50% Forme roared, its entire body glowing blood-red!
This was Z2 under mind control…
Another Squishy!
The Zygarde howled at the sky, causing vines and thorns to surge violently from the ground, tearing through everything in their path!
Meanwhile, across Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova, Rainbow Rocket operatives launched simultaneous large-scale operations.
The world was suddenly engulfed in chaos.
After forming a pact with a certain Legendary Pokémon, Giovanni could no longer suppress the ambitions raging inside him!
In the audience, Bonnie's backpack suddenly wriggled. Her own little Zygarde Core, Squishy, seemed to sense something. With a soft cry, it leapt out of her bag.
"Squishy, where are you going?!" Bonnie cried, chasing after it.
Clemont and Serena quickly ran after her—only to bump headfirst into a girl dressed in a way that resembled a Chespin.
At that exact moment…
The greatest turmoil in Kalos' history began.
From beneath the ground, without any warning, a colossal vine of thorns erupted skyward!
A towering skyscraper was instantly pierced through!
Everyone froze in shock.
The impaled building groaned, tilting, before collapsing with a deafening crash!
CRACK-CRACK-CRACK!
"Run!"
"Oh my Arceus, what is that thing?!"
"Is this Rainbow Rocket's doing?!"
Diantha shot to her feet in horror. As the reigning Kalos Champion, it was her duty to take charge when disaster struck.
"Quickly! Elite Trainers of the League, protect the audience and escort them to safety! The rest of you, contact Officer Jenny immediately and find out what's happening!"
But this wasn't just Kalos' problem anymore.
In Kanto, three separate disturbances had erupted, each one triggered by power on par with the Elite Four. Entire cities fell into chaos.
Even worse—reports emerged of two ancient Pokémon and two colossal Pokémon rampaging through urban centers!
Over in Hoenn, both Team Aqua and Team Magma had resurfaced—long after they were thought defeated.
Archie and Maxie were leading their forces once again. Strangely, apart from the leaders themselves, the rest of their teams remained unchanged, as if nothing had ever happened.
Even more terrifying… their schemes had reawakened the two Primordial Pokémon.
Groudon and Kyogre!
The God of the Land and the God of the Sea!
Believing their territories had been violated, the two titans clashed violently.
The earth shook. The seas roared. The skies thundered with rage.
It was only a matter of time before Rayquaza, the ruler of the skies, descended to intervene!
Already, strange auroras shimmered across the heavens—signs pointing to the arrival of another cosmic being: Deoxys!
Meanwhile, in Sinnoh, things weren't any better.
Team Galactic's four Commanders—Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Charon—who had been thought captured, suddenly resurfaced.
Accompanying them were three trainers, each wielding power on par with the Elite Four.
Palkia and Dialga roared in fury, the clash of time and space threatening to tear reality apart!
At the summit of Mt. Coronet, suspicious figures moved in the shadows. If they succeeded in releasing the Renegade Pokémon, Giratina, then Sinnoh too would fall into the abyss of war!
And in Unova, Team Plasma had erupted in full-scale rebellion.
The Age of Turmoil had begun…
