"If that's the case, then I haven't missed my chance to claim you for myself," she exclaimed, flashing Beck a bright, toothy smile. Her light blue eyes sparkled with a fierce, eager glint as she gazed into his eyes and playfully licked her lips.
Regrettably for her, her suggestive licking went unnoticed by Beck, as he had grown so accustomed to women flirting with him that he had become desensitized, often tuning them out completely. Therefore, when the little black fox female, renowned for her beauty and accustomed to males fawning over her before she was sold to the bear beastkin—who had decided he must possess her and paid an outrageous sum to her village—she began to question whether this formidable male's apparent lack of interest was due to him playing hard to get or because of the bear scratches she was still covered in. She feared that her beauty was ruined.
