In just the first 15 minutes, over 500 cruise missiles were fired at Wumu Air Force Base.
To destroy or paralyze the air force base, more than half of the cruise missiles were equipped with child-mother bombs specifically targeting the runways. Although the air defense forces protecting the base exerted all their efforts, shooting down hundreds of cruise missiles, they still could not safeguard the crucial runways.
Fortunately, all combat aircraft stationed at Wumu Base took off before the attack.
