Chapter 17 - Chapter Seventeen

Outside there is a large crowd. The first and second rings of people surrounding them are the students and people who got out of this building. The third ring are the people coming to check on and pick up their families or relatives. The last ring is onlookers. Ary simply lets Flower go and walks into the ring of people. Flower doesn't walk into the crowd and instead turns around to look at the destroyed building. Well, not a completely destroyed building. Only the top left corner of it is destroyed and that is what caused all the ruckus. Flower laughs in her head since she can't laugh out loud without the pain into her stomach. She looks to find Ary but doesn't see her. It doesn't matter. We are not friends and she doesn't want to be with me. However, I will be eternally grateful for her help, even if she doesn't like it. She turns her thoughts away from Ary and back to the building. For all the pain she just went through, she expected it to be something big. The girl is interested at the effect of one person to another. Only part of the building fell and the people in there had at least five minutes to leave. That means none of them died but the group of workers scared everyone and suddenly the whole building of five floors is being evacuated for a room that fell at the top floor, not harming anyone. And yet because of panic she along with tens of others got hurt and trampled because of this small act. Looking at the almost whole building, Flower understands what her mother meant in that memory so long ago. The girl vows to think in hard situations as best as she can so that one day she isn't the one hurting the others. Someone taps her shoulders, and Flower is surprised to see Ary standing behind her. Her breaths are quick, and she leaves no time for Flower to talk.

"Nobody died."

"What?"

"No one died. I just went around to the people who saw what happened first hand. Apparently, the first room to fall isn't the one we can see right now. There is a whole hallway of empty rooms that had no workers yet on the fourth floor. The whole hallway collapsed and that was that first loud noise that made people run out of the building in panic. About four minutes later a big room filled with people on the fifth floor started to crumple."

"I thought no one died."

"Yeah, no one did. Part of the ceiling was the first to fall so the people knew they had to get out of there. By the time the whole room fell down everyone was out and running. Everything else is just a mob of terrified people trying to live."

"Unfortunately, a lot of different people broke some bones or got trampled. All of them are going to recover, which makes this attack, the least harmful attack we've had in-" The girl stops and counts on her fingers while Flower stands there confused.

"Nine months."

"What?"

"This is the least harmful atta-"

"I know what you said. I'm just wondering how often these attacks happen." Ary's face tightens.

"Every couple of weeks. I don't think you understand how dangerous it is to be famous here, Flower. The reason we have bodyguards, or the reason we essentially should is because there are a lot of…. Illegal things going on. As well as strong enemies. I'm sure it's the act of the Millers again. They are plain evil." For once, Ary's face is twisted in hatred and for the right reasons. In front of them, both girls see Cindy walking towards them. Ary turns playful and looks at Flower.

"See you later, peasant. You're lucky I didn't sue you for what you did. I'm too good for this" She says before flipping her hair. Flower smiles at Ary as Cindy comes closer. The girl soon realizes that Cindy is walking quickly and looks worried.

"Oh Flower thank god you and Ary are ok, I was so worried." Flower winces when Cindy hugs her tight.

"Yeah, I think my back is swelling though. So I'll go back to my room and put something on it to heal. Is everyone ok?"

"Most of the girls are ok. A couple of girls still haven't shown up and I'm waiting for them. Some of the girls have left without telling me, I'm sure, but I have to make sure they got back home safely."

"Oh ok Miss Cindy."

"Bye Flower." The girl walks off then turns back to her.

"Are we still having the business dinner tonight?" The girl shouts happily and Cindy smiles.

"We still haven't decided. Give me your phone number, then tomorrow morning I'll let you know what is going on in the group."

"There is a group for the class and I'm not in it." Flower says faking sadness.

"No, you just haven't been here enough. I'll put you in the group." Flower laughs, gives Cindy her phone number and walks off. It takes some time for her to get through the crowd of people but she eventually does. After that the place is mostly empty because of what happened. She walks calmly and slowly back to her apartment, skipping along, enjoying the view and her comfort. When she gets back to her room and opens the door, she thankfully finds the room clean, happy that she cleaned it before. The girl takes off her backpack that she didn't even notice she was wearing and takes off her clothes. There is a large plate of food near her bed and Flower wipes it clean. She washes her dishes, puts away her clothes, and leaves her bag on the chair. After five tries and almost pulling her hair out, Flower is able to put on the cream to her back and brushes her hair and teeth before slipping into bed. The time is a little early but Flower has had a crazy day today and sleeps as soon as her head touches the pillow.
