I walked over to the couch as if I was floating. The surface underneath my legs feeling as if it wasn't even there but my brain telling me that it was alright. My body felt cold, a drastic layer of sweat over my body that I worried if I had suddenly developed a fever within minutes of terrible news.
Whether Edward told me today or tomorrow I feared the reaction would have been the same. There was no sugar coating it, putting a wonderful wrapper then placing a bow on top. There was no way to properly digest the fact that my father, as terrible as he could be, as violent and abusive as he was, was in fact a criminal and had single handedly ruined multiple peoples lives.
