The closet was too small for me. That was the first problem.
The chair in the corner was the second. It was woven, delicate, the kind of thing you put plants on in magazines. I was seated on it and genuinely concerned it was going to snap in half under me at any second.
But I wasn't worried about the chair. I was worried about Connor.
He'd just come out of the shower ten minutes ago and I'd made the mistake of thinking I could survive watching him get dressed.
"Stay here," I'd told him, smug and completely certain. "You don't need clothes for three days."
He'd rolled his eyes at me, all damp hair and a smug little grin. "No. We're going to the village. I've never been to Tuscany before, Edward. I'm not spending the whole trip naked in your house like some kept man."
Kept man.
I'd groaned into my coffee.
