My mind swirled, rapidly churning out possibilities. It felt like a disaster was about to be unleashed, but from behind, a soft, vulnerable voice rang out.
"Daddy!"
Looking behind, my plan was to give a quick message and be on my way, but then I saw Valera.
While she still had her top on, her trousers had been pulled down, resting at her ankles.
She had her hands held together and stared at me with an expression of loneliness, her eyes falling to the ground the moment I turned to her.
I groaned heavily within, but outward, I immediately turned on my heels and walked back to Valera. Silently, I bent down, pulling up her pants to her waist.
She looked up at me as I stood, reluctance on her sad face, and I gave her a smile, then leaned down and pecked her lips.
"You look like I'm going to die."
"I want to be with you, Daddy."
"Don't worry, I won't be long. I just need to quickly check something."
"Is it Mom?" A bit of the sadness left Valera's face.
"Yes."
