Chapter 687 - Chapter 687 September 2nd (Part 5)

Salin and the others had come here behind Law's back, not only to see what he was up to but also with the intention of assisting him.

"Goldie is guarding the area below. If anyone comes, I'll know immediately."

Ellie held a high-power night vision telescope, moving towards the edge of the rooftop while following the explosions in the distant night.

Salin, meanwhile, listened intently to the sounds of explosions and the gunfire mixed within them coming from all directions, her expression unusual.

To ensure the underground auction proceeded normally, blocking off intersections and creating a vacuum zone was a common practice for the Mafia.

However, for many years, it had been rare for anyone to dare cause such a commotion in front of the Mafia.

Judging by the directions the explosions were coming from, almost every necessary route leading to the Cemetery Building was under attack.

This meant the attackers weren't opting for a single-point breakthrough but a full-frontal assault from all directions, indicating their plan was likely to completely annihilate the Mafia members currently in Yorknew City.

Thus, this place was about to become a battlefield.

Salin moved to Ellie's side, raised her night vision telescope, and looked towards one of the explosion sites.

Within the one-kilometer radius, there were many tall buildings, and most lines of sight were obstructed. They could only see the soaring flames and thick smoke.

Stargie stood not far behind the two, paying no attention to the explosions and gunfire from all around. She wasn't interested in these things at all.

She slowly looked up at the sky. There were quite a few clouds tonight, shifting with the wind, frequently obscuring the moonlight.

The night breeze carried a slight chill, causing her black hair to flutter behind her.

...

The Troupe currently had eleven members, divided into five teams.

Chrollo was accompanied by two people: Pakunoda and Bonolenov.

They were the only three-person team in the group. The other members were all in pairs, attacking the Mafia-held intersections from various directions and crushing their way through.

Bonolenov took on the assault role, using his agile movements to rush into the armed groups, drawing most of the fire while taking out several Mafia members with each move.

Behind him, Pakunoda materialized her silver revolver, loaded with ordinary aura bullets, taking down one person per shot.

Since it didn't require reloading, Pakunoda's rate of fire wasn't slow, allowing her to harvest a large number of lives in a short time.

With Bonolenov and Pakunoda killing freely at the front, Chrollo didn't need to lift a finger. He kept his hands in his pockets, his expression calm as he stepped over the littered corpses and the burning wreckage of cars.

They were Team One. Team Two consisted of Hisoka and Kortopi.

Compared to these small fries, Hisoka was more interested in encountering the opponent who had taken down Franklin and Shalnark.

Although his interest was lacking, he at least didn't slack off. When killing Mafia members, it was like plucking bean sprouts… utterly ruthless and with astonishing efficiency.

Kortopi was the Troupe's logistics personnel. Compared to other members, his combat ability was weaker, but he was still not an opponent the Mafia could defeat with firearms alone.

He followed behind Hisoka, cleaning up any stragglers.

Team Three was Feitan and Phinks.

One used a blade, the other used his hands. They were actually competing, seeing who could kill more.

Feitan, relying on his ghostly speed, dodged bullets. Each time he passed through a crowd, a dozen or so heads would fly into the air.

Phinks wasn't as fast as Feitan, but dodging bullets was more than enough for him. Using his iron-like hands, he twisted the necks of one Mafia member after another.

Team Four was Shizuku and Mohana.

Shizuku simply followed behind Mohana, never getting a chance to act.

She watched Mohana walk a winding, twisting path, deducing that she was using the night breeze to carry her perfume scent towards the Mafia members, and that scent was harmful to humans.

Without needing to lift a finger, groups of Mafia members fell to the ground, foaming at the mouth.

"Is it the perfume?" Shizuku asked curiously.

"That's right," Mohana replied with a seductive laugh, her exaggerated eye shadow resembling a blooming flower.

"But I can smell it too, and I'm completely fine," Shizuku expressed her confusion.

Mohana tilted her head to look at the puzzled Shizuku, licked her red lips, and said seriously, "That's because... you're a virgin."

"Oh, I see."

Shizuku showed no embarrassment, instead nodding in understanding.

Her confusion was resolved, and she felt happy.

Seeing Shizuku so adorably naive, Mohana lost interest and turned her head back, sensing the direction of the night wind. She sometimes walked straight, sometimes deviated from the route, sending the perfume scent into the bodies of the Mafia members blocking the way.

Her answer to Shizuku's query was half right and half wrong.

Team Five was Akatake and Cipher. Their style was quite similar to Feitan and Phinks, and they started a killing contest.

In the face of first-rate Nen Users, even when the Mafia brought out RPGs, they still couldn't pose the slightest threat to the Troupe.

In fact, even if they deployed tanks, the result would be the same.

The armed forces deployed by the Mafia numbered close to three thousand. Under the assault of the Troupe members, their numbers were rapidly decreasing.

Among the Troupe's five teams, Feitan & Phinks and Akatake & Cipher had the fastest killing speeds. Before long, they had broken through the five-hundred-meter mark, leaving behind a horrific hellscape in their wake.

The Troupe attacked simultaneously from five directions, constantly compressing the Mafia's defensive lines.

Inside the Cemetery Building, the Mafia bosses who had come to attend the auction gathered in the waiting lounge.

Listening to the changing frequency of the sounds outside, they couldn't help but feel a wave of panic.

Initially, the sounds of explosions and gunfire from outside were like constant firecrackers, barely ceasing for a second, indicating the armed forces were engaged in fierce firefights with the enemy.

But after ten minutes, the sounds were no longer so dense. They could barely hear any more explosions, only sporadic gunfire.

Just listening to this change in sound, one couldn't help but guess that the armed forces might be on the verge of collapse.

The guests weren't clear about the situation outside, but the auction's on-site person in charge was.

There were only eleven enemies, yet they were crushing through the established defense lines like a rotten log.

That was... over two thousand fully armed troops!

The person in charge could no longer sit still. He immediately sought instructions from the Ten Dons and, upon receiving their approval, ordered the Shadow Beasts and the hired assassins to move out.

They were to leave the Cemetery Building and actively hunt down the enemies.

"It's about time."

Both the Shadow Beasts and the assassins had the same thought, like beasts released from a cage.

There was no coordination between them. It was like a lottery… they listened to the sounds to determine positions, each choosing a direction, their figures quickly disappearing into the night.

The sortie of the Shadow Beasts and assassins was observed by Kurapika and Law.

"No need to go north."

Law watched the direction Zeno and Silva headed off in.

"Those two are very strong?" Kurapika understood and then asked.

"Yes. Remember, make good use of the Shadow Beasts and the assassins, then achieve the greatest results with the smallest cost," Law said.

Kurapika nodded silently. Even without Law's specific reminder, that was what he intended to do next.

The two of them were sparrows lurking in the shadows, only striking when only one remained between the mantis and the cicada.

The best outcome would undoubtedly be to exchange a negligible cost for considerable gains.

The two left the building, maintaining Zetsu, and each chose a direction to depart.

Kurapika headed towards the location of Shizuku and Mohana.

Law chose the direction where Hisoka and Kortopi were.

A few minutes later, since the Troupe members were coming openly, the Shadow Beasts and assassins quickly found them.
