Chapter 204 - The Presence
Harry was a man who solved problems for the Harrigan family—a highly skilled man, the kind even someone like Dante would want by his side.
But loyalty was something that true men couldn't be bought for, not even with all the money in the world. And that was the case with Harry, who, regardless of the type of enemy the Harrigans faced, was always there, standing beside his second family.
Since that was his job, and now a passive threat had emerged—one that could escalate very quickly—Harry began investigating where the mercenaries who ambushed the Glass family had been supported from.
During his quick investigation, he found a night pub where people were talking about the fall of the Glass family and, along with it, the instability of the cannabis business.
Who benefits from the Glasses leaving the game? That was a gang tied to Richie Stevenson, who ran the fentanyl business with help from the Mexicans.
As Harry combed through Richie Stevenson's list of allies, he found many who were enemies of SAMCRO and drew his own conclusions.
But before he could go further, Kevin, his friend and son of Conrad Harrigan, called him.
"I think we've got a bigger problem than just the meeting."
"Is it about our suppliers?" Harry didn't know what Kevin was getting at.
"No, it's about Eddie. He came home last night... covered in blood."
"All right, buddy. I'll be there in ten minutes."
Harry ended the call, took a deep breath, closed his eyes for a few seconds, and muttered,
"Just what we needed."
Kevin had only one son. His name was Eddie Harrigan—a foolish kid who, in addition to diving into drugs and parties, made life even harder for his father.
His grandfather, Conrad, was the most disappointed in him, but his grandmother Maeve was the one who spoiled everything Eddie did, and that was a problem.
And now was not a good time to be dealing with extra issues that could jeopardize their dealings with SAMCRO, because if they made even the slightest mistake and looked suspicious, the Harrigans would be eliminated.
"Damn it."
Harry started the vehicle and quickly drove to Kevin's house, which wasn't far from where he was.
As he walked through the door, he heard Kevin shouting in frustration.
"Eddie!"
Harry sat down as Kevin vented.
"They've got security footage, witnesses. If his grandfather finds out, he's a dead man. With everything going on with SAMCRO, the kind of explosion my father can cause is unthinkable."
"I'll be a dead man too."
At that moment, the cause of all Harry's problems walked into the room where he was talking with Kevin.
"Good morning, Harry," said Eddie, completely unconcerned with what was going on.
"Good morning, Eddie."
Harry also showed no concern. This world had shaped him into someone ready for anything.
Kevin, shocked at his son's attitude, looked at Harry and then back at Eddie.
"Come on, tell him."
"Please, Dad... I have a headache."
"Here." Bella, Kevin's wife, approached with a glass of milk.
"Eddie, why don't you sit down?"
"Thanks," Harry said as he looked at the glass of milk.
"Can I have a glass of milk?"
"No, you can't have a damn glass of milk," Kevin snapped. Hell, was he the only one angry in this situation? "Don't make him anything."
Eddie then sat down, completely uninterested in his father's attitude.
"Well, tell me—what happened?"
"He stabbed another guy at a club," Kevin jumped in before his son could speak.
"It wasn't that deep," Eddie defended himself.
"All right, how badly did you hurt him?" Harry kept his calm in a situation that was getting worse by the second.
"They can investigate."
"What did you do with the knife?"
Harry wasn't falling for Eddie's nonsense.
"I threw it away."
"Where?"
"In the river, the Thames," Eddie said proudly. "It's under the mud. They'll never find it."
"Where's the club?"
"Somewhere in the East."
Harry, still calm, said,
"Okay, now you can help the family, or you can keep doing whatever it is you're doing… and with a bit of luck, you'll end up doing five to ten years in Belmarsh prison for attempted murder."
"You're a damn idiot—doing all this right when our suppliers are watching us." Kevin stared at his son, wishing he didn't share his blood so he could kill him himself.
"Where's the club?"
"I've got the address on my phone."
"Good. If you understand what you've done, you'll understand my next questions, so spare us the conversation and bring me all the clothes you wore last night so I can get rid of them."
Bella walked out of the kitchen and said,
"I already did. Except for his shoes."
Eddie got up and went to look for his shoes. As he did, he spotted armed men standing silently at the door. The leader among them made a silence gesture.
In the kitchen, Kevin looked at Harry and asked,
"What if the kid dies?"
"We'll take care of it. We need to act before tonight's meeting."
Harry was going to say more, but then he saw a man enter the room, holding Eddie by the back of the neck.
"Gentlemen, I apologize for the lack of manners we're showing right now, but due to how tight our schedule is, we've decided to move the meeting up," said the man, who had tattoos on his neck, a long beard, and a calm smile.
"This is my house, you son of a bitch." Kevin didn't flinch at the sight of armed men entering his home.
The man—none other than Cocodrilo—noticed Kevin's attitude and said,
"Well, you'll be glad to know we've found the leak."
"What?"
Harry tried to calm his friend, looked at Bella and said,
"Go grab your things. We'll meet in the car."
Bella left with Eddie, while Kevin and Harry stayed in the living room.
"Well, it's not really our place to tell you you've got a security problem… but you've got a security problem. Consider this a token of our friendship—and look into who's investigating you."
After saying that, Cocodrilo placed a dozen fingers with tattoos on the table.
"My tablecloth…" Kevin, more worried about the fabric than anything else, looked around at the people who had entered his home as they walked out silently.
At that moment, Harry, staring at the tattoos on the fingers, said,
"We've got serious trouble."
"What now?"
"It's the Triad. If they're involved, this is way bigger than just trying to take down the Glass family."
Harry stood up to make some calls.
Kevin let out a deep sigh in silence. His world was about to become an even bigger hell than it already was.
