After a few giant fists of love, the rowdy guild once again returned to its calmness. Seeing how these children are behaving, Makarov nodded his head in satisfaction.
While Makarov was disciplining the brats, the S-class candidates all sat in a corner. Even Macao and Wakaba, who also got entangled in the brawl, sat there like obedient children. Well, they have no choice, as the atmosphere here is too terrifying.
Ur, who usually has a gentle personality, is now like a cold, domineering CEO as she crossed her legs and looked at her opponents. Around her, the ground began to freeze. And there is Laxus, who had that battle-hungry expression as lightning danced around him. And lastly, there is Akira, but unlike the two of them, Akira didn't actively release his aura, but despite that, Macao and Wakaba felt the greatest threat coming from him.
" So, guys, how are we doing this? Should we really go through this S rank assignment, or just duke it out by ourselves? " Akira asked as he pushed his glasses that he got from somewhere.
"Personally, I prefer the latter option. " Akira said as his eyes turned to slits.
"Hehe, sure, why not? I'm also itching to rub your face on the ground, " Laxus said as battle intent filled his whole body.
"Hehe, blonde, if you are still asleep, I recommend you go to your bed; daydreaming is never a good sign, " Akira sneered as she remarked.
"What did you say, you punk, dare you tell that again? " Laxus exploded as he stood up on the table.
" Huh, can't handle the truth, blonde? " Akira also didn't lose momentum as he also stood up on the table.
Just as the two dragon slayers were about to fight it, a cold voice sounded, breaking their argument.
" Hey, you two, aren't you forgetting someone? " Ur looked at the two boys with a cold gaze. In her eyes, there was anger that was ready to erupt.
After years of recovering, Ur, who was barely considered one of the Ten Great Saints, directly broke through and became one who is considered strong even amongst the Ten Great Saints. At least according to Makarov, Ur is catching up to him very fast.
As for why Ur is angry right now, well, that is because these two brats are completely ignoring her. Sure, she doesn't have much interest in becoming an S-rank quest, but that doesn't mean she liked being ignored like this. After all, Ur also has her own pride.
" You two brats are too arrogant. " Ur released her aura, and she also stood up after staying in Fairy Tail for this long. Ur also assimilated with Fairy Tail's rough-like behavior.
Seeing the three of them being on the verge of duking it out, Wakaba and Macao quietly kept their distance so as not to get caught in the crossfire.
And just as the three of them were almost about to trade blows, Makarov, the guildmaster, finally noticed the commotion. With black lines on his forehead, Makarov, with an angry roar, threw a punch straight at the three of them.
The first to notice the attack was Akira. He quickly created a magic circle and teleported away from the attack range. Next was Laxus, who used his speed to flash away, and following was Ur, who also ducked to the side. And with all the bigshots away, the poor Wakaba and Macao were unfortunately left behind to face the wrath of Makarov.
And just like that, a world where only Wakaba and Macao were hurt was born.
…..
The next morning at Hargeon Port, the Fairy Tail members gathered before a massive ship that had the Fairy Tail symbol engraved on the sails.
" Wow, Master, is this ship really our guild's? " Akira asked as he looked at Makarov with surprise. You know, since he mostly helps with the guild finances, he knew better than anyone how much income the guild makes. And with their income, there is no way they could afford such a boat.
"Ehem, no, this boat is Blue Pegesus's, I just borrowed it from Bob. " Makarov spoke as he coughed and looked away awkwardly.
" I see, don't worry, Master, I will be able to buy you a bigger boat very soon, " Akira spoke as he patted Makarov's shoulder comfortingly. He isn't bragging here. With income generated from his magic shop, Akira only needs to wait for a few months to save enough to buy a brand new ship. And what's more, he could enchant the ship by himself, making the value triple.
" You meant it, " Makarov asked as he looked at Akira with a tearful gaze. For this old man, this is the best news he could hear. You don't know how many times Makarov was envious of Akira's magic workshop.
This kid's ability to create new gadgets is superb. Even he, who is one of the Wizard Saints, is tempted by some of the items there.
" Yes, but if you make an S-class wizard now, I might even buy you a yacht right here and now. " Akira's voice was like a devil's whisper as Makarov tried hard to control his emotions. For a moment, I mean just that brief moment, Makarov really considered whether to just give Akira the S rank title. After all, with this kid's strength, forget about S rank; he could even go head-to-head with a Ten Wizard saint. So this test is actually just a formality for most of them.
"Forget it. Don't even try to tempt me with that," Makarov growled, successfully wrestling his greed back into a dark corner of his mind. "Just proceed with the assessment like a normal candidate."
"Sure, sure," Akira replied, entirely unbothered by the rejection. To him, if a problem could be solved with a checkbook, it wasn't a problem worth stressing over.
He lived by a simple, if eccentric, motto: 'If you're strong enough, you could walk out in nothing but your underwear, and the weak would call it high fashion.'
"Listen up, everyone! This year's S-Class trial takes place on Tenrou Island and follows a simple three-step process. First, you must hunt down three monsters to retrieve two hidden clues. Once you have those, your next task is to track down Gildarts, who holds the final piece of the puzzle. With all three clues in hand, the race is on to locate the First Master's grave; the first person to find it will be officially promoted to S-Class mage." Makarov explained.
" Wait, why do we need to find three monsters when there are only two clues?" Wakaba asked as he noticed this.
" Of course, that is because you also need to fight another specific monster to find the coordinates to see Gildarts, " Makarov said with a mischievous smile.
" So, in other words, we need to fight the magical beasts until we find all the necessary clues," Macao spoke with a sigh. Well, although fighting a magic beast is hard, it is far easier than solving some puzzles or going on a long journey quest.
" Alright, everyone, the assessment starts now, " Makarov said, seeing that everyone had no more questions.
This left most of the Fairy Tail dumbfounded. Wait, does that mean they have to find Tenrou Island by themselves?
Just as the guild members were thinking about this, they suddenly heard the crackling of lightning, only to find that Laxus had already started running on water. Then the next moment Ur also joined the race. And soon Macao and Wakaba also joined the race, using their own magic.
" Oh damn, these guys are sure quick, " the guild members who came to watch the assessment cheered.
" Master, let's get on the boat quickly; otherwise, we will miss them, " some members spoke as they looked at Makarov.
But Makarov ignored everyone and looked at Akira, who was still standing next to him. He looked at him and asked, " Akira, why are you still here? "
Akira gave Makarov a mysterious smile and said, " Master, what gave you the illusion that I am still here? "
