There are three things that travel the fastest in the world that we know of. There is light. Nothing in this world moves faster than light. One might argue that dark may also move just as fast. There is no shadow without candlelight, no shade without sunlight, and no darkness without it's eternal twin. They fit together seamlessly, and it is because of this that we have man. Within every animal, every plant, every person there is light and dark. Everyone has darkness within them, but without that darkness there would be no light and vice versa. Whether it is within man or in the world around us, nothing moves faster than light. Our actions and behaviors can cross the world in no time just as light can reach our eyes. If we blink, it may be too late to stop it.
The second fastest thing is sound. The sound of the first cries of a babe as it reaches out into the world, the sound of the cicada in the summer, the roar of the mightiest dragon, the quiet hum of the hibernating bear. The sound of the last moments in life.
This brings us to the final portion of our list: gossip. Did you think it would be anything else? Like the wind word of mouth spreads across the land quickly. Stories become bigger, more grand. People will add flourish, and the truth may shrink smaller and smaller. We take a breath and inhale the sweet scent of a good scoop and in the next we exhale and share the delight with a new crowd of listeners. Is there any better way to describe the spread of the fame of Ming Ran and Cang Mu? The young cultivators who had come out of no where and won the Thousand Year Tournament. Beating the crown prince! And Gong June! And Fa Lin! The tale spread far and wide. Even now, it reaches every corner, every bar, every tea shop, every house of delight, every field, every kingdom, every sect... are you pleased?
Why is it that I feel that you have been hoping for this all along? Even now, you smile. Put down that cup, you drunken sod! You look so smug, it's sickening! Tell me, what is it you are after? Hm? I should tell you now: no matter how much you wish for it, the dead won't return. Stop chasing after some dead woman and keep your feet on the ground.
...I swear to you, if you mess things up again, I will make you pay.
