Chapter 1 - [ PROLOGUE ]

[ PROLOGUE: "WELCOME TO THE WIZARDING WORLD!" ]

"Excuse me, uhh, Professor Harp. I don't seem to... understand somethings, do you mind if I ask a few questions?" Helena Kersh, a concerned parent asked, as she watches the suave-like gentleman dressed in weird manner siting right across from her, a table in front of them both.

In response, the purple eyed man paused slightly, as he then gave a faint nod to her. Smiling softly as he continues to drink from his cup of coffee. "Go ahead, Ms. Kersh."

On the outside he seems to be humble, soft-spoken, and confident. But in truth, Felix Harp is anything but that, as on the inside he is in truth panicking—thinking about the what ifs, the worse outcomes, and possible punishments that may come with it through the System.

Because to be frank, even though Felix has been doing this same song and dance for a year now, he still couldn't help but think of the bad that could happen. How could he not? He has his foot on the renowned fictional superhero universe of DC after all.

To be precise, on one of the many universes in it, one where in nothing catastrophic had happened yet. But clear signs throughout the short time that Felix had spent here is telling him, that yes, the universe is slowly progressing, reeling its ugly head out.

For example, the crime rate in Gotham alone has spiked up to 205% since the previous years. Before he had arrived in that said city, or universe as a whole. From petty crimes to violent once, that is a scary thing.

But thanks to the System engraved deep into his person, which to some extent he can control and manipulate. The once fearful, timid, always-worse-outcome thinker Felix, could at the very least be reassured that everything may be alright as long as he studies and teaches.

"Are you truly a wizard like what my daughter said?" Ms. Kersh, the worried single parent asked. Her uniform from working as a diner waitress still on her, some parts stained with stains and grease from her work.

For a moment Felix stopped thinking about the what ifs, instead thinking of a proper answer that may give reassurance to her instead. "Yes, I'm a wizard."

But ultimately he couldn't think of anything aside for a straight up answer, like yes. Which was received with surprise, and disbelief which was written all over her face, as doubt then came forward right after.

The brunette stared at the young 20s something Professor right in front of her, and inside her head, she compared the image of a normal wizard to him. Which was old, wise, robe-wearing, and with a long white beard wearing a pointy hat—that plus a wooden staff taller than him.

And instantly, she thought that Felix doesn't look anything but a wizard. A professor, sure. But not a wizard. As he looks young, healthy, without hat or staff, not like the wizard depicted on books. Now aside for that, the oddity here is that, he looks british, which isn't that quite odd really.

But it is, especially because no sane british would ever step foot in the slums of Gotham—which she and her daughter live in, that or he's a gangster, which would be bad for Helena and her daughter's sake.

Even so, why would the said gangster be soft-spoken and calm? Even introducting himself as a professor, and a wizard. Sure, the latter part is nonsensical, but still, everything that led up to this moment is nonsensical. So what in the Lord's name is actually right?

After thinking about it in a confused state, Ms. Kersh was finally able to give a proper response, albeit with her brows raised without her noticing it, still really not understanding it all. "You—you don't look like one." Aside for the eyes that is, which is oddly purple, beautiful, yet weird. "No offense."

"I..." Thank you? Felix knows what she is thinking of, as he had experienced this whenever he went house visiting to students houses. Apparently the wizard from this world's conscience is based on fairy tale books, as popular media like Harry Potter is yet to exist, or not at all.

"Thank you, Ms. Kersh, I'm on my way there. Give or take a hundred more years." He jokingly said, as he then gave a forced chuckle to ease the situation, which was received with an equally forced chuckle from her. And once again, the room was met with an awkward atmosphere.

Felix has yet to be used with it, even though he had visited nearly a hundred house now since last year.

"How about Hogwarts, is it really a school from another world?" She asked, breaking the silence. To be honest, she doesn't believe in aliens, but the way the man in front of her introduced Hogwarts—to her it seems like he is one.

A school for magic, that sounds like it could have originated from Narnia or from a fairy tale; Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, or Beauty and the Beast for example.

"No, no, that's... that's not true, Ms. Kersh."

"That's a relief." So when she heard that isn't the case, she subconsciously became relieved, as she exhaled pretty audibly in turn.

"No, Hogwarts didn't come from another world Ms. Kersh. Hogwarts is in the other world. You can also call it as the Wizarding World." Felix continued, in seeing her calm down. Dropping the bomb shell which made her stand up in shock.

He can't blame her, at first he thought of Hogwarts as nothing but a school. A fictional one living inside pages of books, from the bright mind of J.K. Rowling. That trail of thought was broken by his abrupt death, then resurrection, and in being forced to build it step-by-step.

Even more so when he realized that it's set in another world entirely, a prehistoric one wherein dinosaur freely roam. Where nature is yet to be tainted. Which grows the more students are in it, and the more coins he spent to upgrade it—the latter he gets by teaching, or by completing tasks given by the System inside his head.

'Too much? Yeah, perhaps.' Felix thought as he watches her mouth agape, standing there, seemingly frozen in air. Judging from that reaction, he better not tell the latter part about the Wizarding World, or she'll really be in shock.

"Yo—you...!" She stuttered, words forming in her head, on what to say, as she can't believe such absurdity that she just heard. Might as well say that Atlantis exists, because that sounds more believable than that.

 "This doesn't make any sense!"

"Yeah, I can agree." Felix nodded his head, remembering the part about him dying and being gifted a matchstick-like building called Hogwarts.

 "Then—then prove it!"

Earlier the day, Felix performed magic tricks. Like turning the table into a pig, then back into a table again. To even disappearing and reappearing on the other side of the room, that was thanks to his wand that is, and concentration. Other than that, he also did other tricks using magic.

Which was enough to quench her thrist about magic being real, as it was in fact, real. Now, she is asking about the validity of Hogwarts—Felix would of course, comply. As he did with the other households that he visited in the day prior, showing them what the Wizarding World is.

He drank the coffee from his cup, bottoming it out before then finally standing up confidently. Ready to show his most mind breaking trick yet. "Absolutely, Ms. Kersh."

Felix as rehearsed for the nth time now, stood up and searched for something deep inside his pockets—amidst the wrappers of candies and pennies, he wasn't actually searching for something in those pockets.

No, instead it was showmanship, a trick. As in reality, while he's smiling to Ms. Kersh who seems uneased, he is in reality looking at the System's prompt; the Inventory, a 5x5 box that only he can see, floating.

In that he is slowly trying to pick the topmost row, on the second box, which is besides his wand and quill. The picture of those both being displayed in simple black ink, plus the item he is looking for—which is the key to the Wizarding World, one of the ways to enter it actually aside for platforms and portals. Both yet to be used by him.

After some time of "searching", Felix was finally able to pick the silver key, which manifested in his pockets bit-by-bit. Which he then pulled out for Ms. Kersh to see.

"Ah, there it is." He continued, adding more mysticism to the object. "The sole key to the Wizarding World."

Felix twirled it in-between his fingers, a habit that he subconsciously formed whenever he touched something that he can twirl around with. Pen, coins, and now a key. The magical key of the Wizarding World to be exact.

"Follow the key, Ms. Kersh." He smiled at her, while continuing to walk to the nearest door he could find, the entrance to the small apartment of Ms. Kersh and her daughter—the latter he hopes would be enrolled after.

He placed the key on the keyhole, and like magic, the head of the key fitted snugly right through the hole. And with a tinge bit of showmanship that he learnt by repetition, Felix, he bowed slightly to the bewildered lady before then twisting the door knob to the side.

Pushing the wooden door forward until it was fully opened. And the view that came with it, was simply other worldly. Pun intended. "Welcome to the Wizarding World!"
