Lady Firera studied me for a long moment, her red eyes piercing through whatever defenses I might have tried to raise. The silence stretched, heavy with expectation.
"First," she said finally, "I want you to do the job of an archivist. Not rewriting the burned books of the Mnemosynum—but writing a new story. The moment you saw Ovelia. Your journey together. Everything until this world achieves true peace again, like it did two centuries ago."
"Duty… write… history… library."
Astra's cryptic message from my dream echoed in my mind. I looked at her. She nodded slowly, her tear-streaked face serious now. So this was what she'd been trying to tell me all along.
I turned back to Lady Firera. "Creating a magical book like that takes enormous mana. I'd be writing with magical pen and ink, after all. The cost—"
"Don't make excuses." Her voice was firm, brooking no argument. "Ovelia is half-elf. A little of her aura, combined with mine, will give you more than enough mana."
