"Your compassion is admirable."
The Maitreya Body chuckled lightly. Compassion, he wouldn't say it's his. Even the true body, when here, would likely be the same—it's simply the basic empathy for one's kind that his true body learned from modern education.
"But you can't bury them all."
The Maitreya Body paused for a moment, then asked, "Are there many such people?"
"Many," Tian Yun affirmed, "Those with family are slightly better off. Those without are left like this."
The Maitreya Body shook his head and said, "I'm not adamant about burying them all, I just happened upon them."
After speaking, he began walking toward the outskirts of the city.
Tian Yun seemed interested in him. Along the way, the Maitreya Body realized what Tian Yun meant by "many"—the pair encountered three more corpses, which they simply took along to the mass grave outside the city.
The Maitreya Body buried them without erecting any tombstones, merely gazing silently at the handful of mounds for a while.
