Chapter 295 - Hypocrisy Unmasked

Léana propped herself up on her elbows, legs still spread, breathing hard, her face marked by pure incomprehension. Klaus had already stepped back. Without a word, he bent down to pick up his scattered clothes and began dressing with cold, mechanical movements.

"Why are you getting dressed?" Léana asked, her voice still hoarse with desire and confusion.

Klaus buttoned his shirt with a detached air, his gaze icy.

"Did you really think I was going to sleep with you?"

Léana sat up completely and perched on the edge of the bed, anxious, eyes wide.

"What…? Why are you saying that? Everything was going fine, wasn't it? Why did you suddenly change

Klaus let out a cold, mocking laugh.

"Oh… that? It was just to see how far your hypocrisy would go."

Those words hit her like a knife. Léana instinctively brought a hand to her chest, as if she had just received a real wound.

"Why are you saying such hurtful things to me? I didn't do anything!"

A wave of pure anger rose in Klaus. He finished buttoning his shirt, took a threatening step toward the bed, his eyes burning with cold hatred. When he spoke, his voice was low, glacial, yet full of contained rage that made Léana shrink back on the sheets.

"You… you say what?

YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING?!"

Léana flinched, her heart pounding wildly. Klaus stopped right in front of her, a bitter smile twisting his lips.

"Léana… are you going to deny being Vareck's accomplice?"

Léana's eyes widened in pure shock. Her mouth opened, but no sound came out at first.

"You… you…"

"Yes, I knew," Klaus cut her off in an icy voice. "In fact… everyone knew. Everyone except Katrina. Because otherwise, she never would have bothered saving a traitor like you. A traitor who deserved only one thing… to die."

He spoke the last word with absolute disgust.

Léana, overwhelmed by a wave of anger and hurt, jumped up from the bed. Still naked, tears already at the edges of her eyes, she cried out in a broken voice:

"I didn't kill her! It wasn't me who asked her to step in front of me! And besides… I never gave him the address of Asher's house! I didn't even know he was going to attack that day! He didn't tell me anything!"

Klaus looked down at her, his tone detached and freezing.

"And you think I'm going to believe you?"

Léana lowered her head, unable to answer. Tears began to fall silently down her cheeks.

"During the fight, I was watching," Klaus continued in a cutting voice. "I clearly saw that you weren't giving it your all. You were dodging the blows. Protecting yourself. As if you already knew what was going to happen."

Léana moved closer to him, clung desperately to his arm, her voice pleading and trembling:

"Listen, Klaus… I swear I had nothing to do with it. I love you. I could never…"

She didn't get to finish. Klaus violently shoved her arm away. Léana lost her balance and crashed hard to the floor, on her knees.

Klaus looked down at her with a bitter, almost painful sneer.

"You… love me? That's a good one."
