Dylan's pov
"Gale" I replied coldly without looking at her. I still couldn't forget the way that guy held her hand and the way he called her 'his girl'. I know he have nothing to do with her and they probably have not met before but I couldn't just shake off my anger.
"Gale?" She asked. I looked at her confused expression and I couldn't help but smile. She just looked so cute. I felt myself calming down a bit.
"He's my personal bodyguard" I explained to her.
"But why have I not seen him before. Aren't bodyguards supposed to be everywhere their master goes?" She asked, looking at me with those big blue eyes. I couldn't resist raising my free hand to pinch her cheeks making her glare at me.
"I prefer him not following me around" I said
"Why are you so different from other young heirs" she asked
"Of course I have to be different. It's better being different" I said. I noticed her gaze softening as she smiled at me.
"I'm proud of you my friend" she said. Friend? I don't like her calling me her friend. Boyfriend would sound better. Well it's just a matter of time.
"Ugh get in the car. It's so late already, your parents would be worried" I said as I pulled her towards my black car.
"Yeah right" she replied but why did it sound sarcastic. I looked at her to study her expression and noticed that it was normal. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
"Wow, is that your car? It's so beautiful" she exclaimed with her eyes filled with admiration. I couldn't help but chuckle.
"Do you call this beautiful? Wait till you see the others" I said with a smug look on my face.
"What a showoff" she said and rolled her eyes at me. I chuckled and pulled her towards the passenger seat.
I got into the car, was about to put on my seatbelt when I noticed she haven't put on her seatbelt and decided to tease her a bit.
I leaned towards her, leaving no space between us. Her face turned red immediately and she turned he face to look out the window.
"You're too close. What if someone sees us?" She asked, still looking out the window.
"The glass is tinted. So, you are not worried about the fact that I am too close but worried that someone will see us instead huh?" I teased her, enjoying every bit of it. Hearing my words, her face turned from a shade of red to purple as she tried pushing me away but I didn't budge. Of course I won't let her get rid of me so easily.
"You jerk. Get off me" I chuckled as I raised my hand to pinch her little nose. When I noticed she might soon faint from both anger and embarrassment, I decided to have mercy on her. I helped her put on her seatbelt before pulling away from her to start the ignition.
During the drive, she kept on looking out the window, looking thoughtful. The only time she talked to me is when she was giving me directions. What could she be thinking about? I want to solve every possible problem that she might be facing so she won't have anything or anyone else to think about apart from me.
"Just drop me off in front of this supermarket" she said as we were about to pass a supermarket called Danny's supermarket.
"Why should I drop you off here, this isn't your house" I couldn't understand why she wanted to drop off here. Even as I was asking her, I stopped the car right in front of the supermarket. Could it be that she didn't want me to know her house. I felt hurt. I thought we were getting closer and I was starting to mean more to her. Is that just my wishful thinking.
"I want to take a walk home. Thanks for the ride and I had a good time tomorrow. Goodbye" she said and was about to open the door to get off the car.
I couldn't bear the pain and before I could stop myself, I found myself following her out of the car.
I rushed to catch up with her and grabbed he hand
"Wait!!!"
Liah's pov
"Wait" I heard his voice as he grabbed my hand. What? I thought he had left. I turned to face him and saw a pained expression on his handsome face.
"What's wrong Dylan?" I asked him as I stared into his black eyes.
"Why don't you want me to take you home. Don't you want me to know your house?" He asked and I couldn't help but notice the hurt in his voice.
I didn't know how to reply him. How could I explain to him that I don't want my parents to see him. He might misunderstand and I don't want to tell him about my ill relationship with my family yet. I know he's a good guy but I need time to fully trust him. I decided to keep quiet and not reply him.
"So I'm right, you really don't want me to know your house" he said and let go of my hand. I could feel my heart breaking into a million pieces as he turned away to walk to his car.
"Dylan wait" I found myself calling out to him. He stopped in his tracks and I thought he would turn back to listen to what I had to say but I was disappointed.
"It's fine. I understand I'm not important to you at all. You can go home, it's late" he said coldly and continued walking to his car.
I watched as her entered his car.
"Dylan please wait" I shouted as I ran towards his car, but before I could grab the door handle, he started the car and drove off.
He's angry with me..
My heart broke at the thought.
I brought out my phone from my purse dialed his number as I started walking back home. Tears streamed down my face when he didn't pick my call for the fifth time.
What do I do now? Wait, I still owe him dinner for the assignment he helped me with. Maybe I can appease him with that, but he has to pick his call first. I can't believe that he's this angry because I didn't let him know my house. Does he care about it that much?
I kept on dialing his number even as I stepped into the house. I saw my parents in the living room and Mark was not with them. He should be asleep by now.
"Good evening Mom and Dad" I greeted and continued climbing the stairs. I don't care if they answer my greeting or not. I'm more worried about Dylan's anger towards me.
"Come back here young lady. See the time you are coming back from a guy's house" I heard my mom shouting from behind me. I ignored her and continued making my way to my room. I entered my room and looked the door, got on my bed and buried my face in my pillow. Tears flower down my face. How do I plead with him when he's not even taking my calls. Just at that moment, the phone in my hand rang. I quickly sat up and looked at the screen. It was Dylan calling.
I quickly picked the call and his deep voice came through.
"What is it" his voice sounded so cold. Guess he's still angry.
"Dylan look I'm sorry for what happened tonight, please don't be angry anymore" I pleaded.
"Hmph, why are you apologizing? I'm not important to you anyways" he said
"No don't say that. You are very important to me. You and Sophie mean so much to me. I may have known you for just a few days but you are already a significant part of my smile. You make me smile a lot. These past days, I've been happy because of you. Please don't be angry anymore" I said these words hurriedly. Yes, these words are from my heart. Ever since he became my friend, I've known happiness. I don't feel so depressed about my parents' negligence towards me anymore. In fact, I think I'm already starting to like him. I didn't love my past boyfriends this way. I
There was silence from the other side for a little while.
"Dylan?" I called his name
"I'm still angry" he said.
"Please don't be. Alright how about I treat you to dinner tomorrow. Remember last time I promised to treat you" I said
"Hmm, let me think about" he said
"Think about what? You were so happy about it before" suddenly I heard him laughing from the other side of the phone.
"I was just teasing you. Are you kidding? Of course I'm dying for you to treat me. What time tomorrow?" He said. A wave of relief washed over me as I heard his words. I wiped tears on my face with my sleeve as I replied him
"How about 5pm. Cool?" I asked him.
"Sure. See you in school tomorrow then" he said.
"Thank you so much Dylan" I said gratefully.
"Hmph, not accepted. See you tomorrow" he said with a playful tone and hung up.
Finally!! Now I can freshen up and get ready for bed.
