The Fire Moth is roughly composed of three parts:
The Combat Squad, responsible for confronting the Honkai on the front lines, protecting survivors, and searching for other survivors.
The Logistics Division, which includes the Medical Department and the Engineering Department. The Medical Department, led by Emisha, is responsible for the medical care of combat personnel and survivors. The Engineering Department, led by Yiselian, is responsible for the maintenance and modification of the base and the equipment of the various warriors.
The "Gray Moth" Squad, a special team led by Murata Himeko. They are responsible for a series of special operations such as external expeditions, expansion, exploration, and resource hunting, traveling aboard the Hyperion, which has lost its power system and can only move on ground tracks.
In this apocalyptic world, no one can stand alone. Men and women, young and old, as long as they are alive, will join one of the three divisions. In this tragic world, one can only survive by exploiting all of one's abilities in exchange for the chance to live.
Because the "Gray Moth" had not yet returned, Ryn and Ryn were casually recruited into Seele's combat squad with a wave of her hand and a single sentence.
Having received payment from Emisha, Ryn and the others took a pile of broken parts to the Engineering Department to be repaired by Yiselian and her team.
Just as the Medical Department was filled with the smell of alcohol disinfectant, the Engineering Department was filled with the mechanical smell of oil. In the dilapidated hall, various strange parts were scattered throughout the space.
However, unlike the Medical Department, which was quiet, the workshop was filled with the clanging and banging of tools.
Seele walked into a room, looking around for something, and then shouted loudly.
"Is anyone here? Yiselian! Are you here?!"
But no one answered Seele. Helplessly, she shrugged and said to the two Ryns:
"Once these people in the Engineering Department get into their work state, they ignore everyone else. Let me show you how to find them in the future. Watch my tried-and-true method."
"What method?"
Then, to Ryn's and Ryn's horror, Seele picked up a mechanical part and weighed it in her hand.
Then, from a pile of things on the floor, she found a rather inconspicuous small light bulb and threw it.
Crash—
A panicked voice immediately followed.
"What broke!"
Thud—
In the line of sight of the three, a girl with green algae hair shot up from an underground storage, her head hitting the machinery above with a crisp thud.
"Oww, oww, oww," Yiselian clutched her head and squatted down, tears welling up in her eyes from the pain.
"Yo, Yiselian, so you were here all along~" Seele put her hands behind her back and greeted Yiselian with a grin.
"It's you again! Didn't I tell you not to look for me like this!" Yiselian shouted angrily at Seele.
However, from her frail body and the dark circles under her eyes, no one felt the slightest bit of pressure.
"But if I don't do this, you won't notice your surroundings at all~ Don't worry, don't worry, I specially chose an inconspicuous little light bulb this time, no need to be nervous."
Seele pointed to the small light bulb she had just broken. Yiselian followed her finger and saw that it was indeed a small light bulb… only the electronic chip and motherboard exposed from the broken bulb revealed that it was not so simple.
Yiselian's vision went dark, and she nearly fainted.
"A small light bulb?! This is… you broke the Houmei robot's camera!!"
"Eh… ?"
"This was a rare one in perfect condition… Forget it, it's already scrap anyway. The Houmei robots can't be fixed, and Rei will come to scold me again later."
Yiselian slumped in her chair with a look of utter despair. Given Emisha's personality, although she wouldn't actually shoot her, she would definitely be yelled at for a whole day.
"Don't be so negative~ Look what this is."
Ryn gestured to Ryn, and the two of them handed the newly collected parts from the battlefield to Yiselian.
"…"
Yiselian was silent for a moment, then put on the goggles hanging on her head and carefully examined the batch of parts. Finally, the corners of her mouth couldn't help but lift into a subtle smile.
"Sigh, more overtime. But… this is great. This way, that batch of Houmei robots can be saved."
The resentful Yiselian turned to leave with the pile of parts. Although she was reluctant to work overtime, as long as this batch of medical robots was repaired, fewer of her family members would have to be sacrificed.
"Hey, wait, wait, wait!"
Seele grabbed the back of Yiselian's collar and pulled her back.
"Why are you leaving without a word! I haven't even introduced these two new family members yet."
Yiselian looked up at Ryn and Ryn, memorizing their faces, and then sighed deeply.
In this apocalyptic world, getting to know one more person is just shouldering another curse.
Tomorrow and accidents, one never knows which will come first, especially for people in the combat unit. Every meeting could be the last.
Kizuna is such a good word. It has two meanings: one is to bind or restrain, the other is the bond between people.
But in Yiselian's view, they are actually the same. The bond with people is actually the rope to hang oneself. The dead are already dead, but the living, because of the bond, can only carry the will of the dead and continue to move forward.
Yiselian is the head of the Engineering Department. Every day, soldiers come to her department to maintain and modify their weapons. With her photographic memory, she can easily remember everyone's face and name, but what's the point…
Those who once came here would smile and encourage their comrades, cheering each other on… but some left with laughter and never returned.
The Honkai destroyed everything. We lost not only our home, but also the dawn we yearned for.
"No need for introductions. I've already memorized their faces. That's enough."
Yiselian turned to leave, continuing her work on repairing the Houmei robots.
"My name is Ryn." "My name is Ryn."
Ryn and Ryn shouted together at Yiselian's back.
Yiselian's steps paused for a moment, then she whispered in a voice only she could hear.
"Mmm, I know."
Seele scratched her head in embarrassment. Since Yiselian was so dismissive, she'd have to find a chance to sneak over and scare her later.
However, while Seele was thinking about how to scare Yiselian without her knowing it was her, Yiselian came running back with some documents.
