Chapter 532 - Chapter 533: Kalpas and the Small Town

A few years ago, in this small town far from the bustling city, a strange thing happened.

A burning meteorite fell from the sky, whistling as it crashed into the town's fields, completely destroying the crops and land.

The fire from the meteorite ignited various parts of the town. People screamed in terror, running around to extinguish the fires and save others. It took a long time to completely put out the fire, but they still suffered many losses…

Not long after that, people suddenly discovered a pervert they had never seen before in the town…

A naked youth often stood on the streets, staring blankly at the passersby and the various shops.

Someone called the police, and they quickly took the youth to the station.

During the interrogation, the police discovered that the youth couldn't speak and seemed to have an intellectual disability. He was oblivious to their questions, as if he hadn't heard them. After a whole night of questioning, the police couldn't even find out his name.

The police didn't know how to handle the intellectually disabled youth. Fortunately, the town had suffered a lot of damage from the meteorite recently, and many people had been displaced and were living in a shelter.

So the police treated the youth as a refugee, gave him some clothes, and sent him to the shelter.

Based on the principle that refugees should help and support each other, even though the youth couldn't speak, he was not ostracized in the shelter but instead received a lot of help.

As people lived with the youth day in and day out, they discovered that this silent youth seemed to have endless energy. He worked tirelessly and possessed superhuman strength. In arm wrestling, seven or eight strong men from the village couldn't beat him combined.

People don't dislike those with a skill, especially someone who can do the work of seven or eight men.

During the disaster reconstruction work, the youth contributed greatly, helping people move building materials and construct houses.

People liked the youth very much, but they didn't know his name.

Until one day, when the youth was helping some children move things, he met an old granny in town who was on the verge of death.

The old granny knew her time was short and decided to give everyone a free fortune telling, a skill she had learned her whole life.

The first time she saw the youth, she read his fortune in her heart.

"You… are strange. I cannot see your past, nor can I see your future. But… your life will be full of tribulations. Or rather, you are the tribulation, a tribulation to those around you…"

For the first time, the youth had the desire to know why. He stammered, trying to ask the old granny why she said that.

But the old granny died. After telling the youth's fortune, she died…

The children who were with him told their parents about the granny's prophecy, and the parents told their friends and relatives.

Thus, someone started it, and "Kalpas" became the name people called the youth.

After that, Kalpas continued to live normally with the people of the small town, trying to learn their customs and language.

The children all liked this quiet and helpful big brother, and the adults also liked this useful tool who was always available and never complained.

But until one day…

A fraudulent old crone passed through the small town. She planned to learn about the town's history and investigate the story of the meteorite that fell a few years ago to facilitate her scam.

But during her investigation, she discovered Kalpas. After learning about his uniqueness and the town's history, she unexpectedly came up with a bold plan…

She poisoned the town's well and, at the same time, put the antidote in Kalpas's drinking water. Then she began to spread rumors throughout the village.

She announced Kalpas's difference from them, exaggerated the original fortune-teller's prophecy about Kalpas, and proclaimed that Kalpas was the meteorite that had fallen, that he had brought the crisis to the town.

The villagers ignored the old crone's words, treating her as a madwoman. After all, they knew what kind of person Kalpas was.

Kalpas was gentle, kind, and capable. Whenever anyone had a problem, the first person they thought of was Kalpas. And Kalpas never hurt anyone. Even when he was bullied, insulted, and beaten, Kalpas never fought back, never hurt anyone.

But once the seed of doubt is planted and a chain of suspicion is established, it will quickly grow into a towering tree, even without a shred of evidence.

Soon after, the villagers fell ill one after another, but only Kalpas was fine…

The people of the small town invariably remembered the old crone's words. Kalpas was different from them. He might be the meteorite from back then…

Those whose families had died in the disaster brought by the meteorite were the first to lose their composure. They ran to Kalpas's house and asked him if he was the meteorite.

Kalpas nodded…

And then the riot began.

Kalpas was captured by the angry mob, tied to a cross, and left to bake in the sun, to be executed by torture as an alien.

Several days later, as more and more sick residents died, the villagers, unable to find a cure, began to panic and fall into chaos.

The old crone knew it was time and returned to the small town.

As the old crone expected, the desperate town residents treated her as a god, offering her countless jewels in exchange for a cure.

Then the old crone said the words that would change Kalpas's life forever…

"All your misfortunes are caused by Kalpas. He is not from Earth. The disease you have is caused by a virus he carries! If you drink Kalpas's blood, everything will be fine!"

Upon receiving the old crone's instructions, the residents, without a second thought, began to cut Kalpas's body and drink his blood…

At first, people felt some remorse. Seeing Kalpas's bewildered eyes, they would be filled with deep self-reproach. Even the children refused to drink Kalpas's blood and would secretly try to rescue him at night.

But no one expected things to exceed the old crone's expectations…

She had thought that by giving Kalpas the antidote in advance, people would be cured after drinking his blood. Kalpas would be drained dry, the people would be cured, and she would be revered as a god.

A tried and true trick that had succeeded many times, but it failed with Kalpas…

Kalpas didn't die. His body was completely different from an earthling's. Not only did he have super regenerative abilities, but…

Those who drank his blood all felt, to varying degrees, that they had become different, that they had inherited a trace of Kalpas's superhuman strength.

There was no longer any pity for Kalpas in the adults' eyes, only deep resentment for why he hadn't shared such a good thing with everyone.

Then, the children were forced to drink Kalpas's blood and became as crazy as the adults, turning their most beloved big brother Kalpas into a villain who had stolen their treasure.

The situation had gone beyond the old crone's expectations, and her first instinct was to run.

But the people had become her fanatical followers, forbidding her to leave and worshiping her daily. Experiencing the wonder of power, the old crone also began to succumb to it.

And so… gradually, the prosperous little town… became a demon town that constantly extorted money from the outside, captured those who were different, and imprisoned them to drink their blood.
