@DanielR1990: FIRST! And holy crap that dragon!!
@HeadForever: I CANT BREATHE. THE DRAGON SCENE. I ACTUALLY CANT BREATHE.
@Matic88: Okay so I wasn't crying until Dumbledore's line and then I LOST IT
@Skewer: I have been saying 3D is a gimmick for YEARS. This trailer just made me eat every single word. I am buying IMAX tickets RIGHT NOW.
@Catch: wait wait wait. Is that ACTUALLY 3D or is this just the regular trailer? Because if the 3D looks like THIS I need to find a theater immediately
@Ran42: My hands are literally shaking. I just watched a TRAILER and my hands are SHAKING.
@TE: PSA FOR EVERYONE ASKING: You need to see this in an actual 3D-equipped theater. The MeTube version doesn't show what the 3D actually does. Find a cinema doing preview screenings. TRUST ME.
@Noon: Am I the only one who thinks this is overhyped? It's just a trailer guys.
└─ @HeadForever: Did you SEE the same trailer we did?? That dragon sequence alone is worth the ticket price!
└─ @Noon: I saw it. It looks fine. You're all being dramatic.
└─ @Ran42: "Fine" he says. FINE. The audacity.
@Wreck2015: I am at WORK. I am supposed to be WORKING. Instead I am watching this on repeat and CRYING at my desk. My boss just walked by. I don't even CARE.
@Person: Okay I will admit the graveyard scene gave me actual chills. That color grading is chef's kiss.
@Train: EVERYBODY STAY CALM!
└─ @Train: STAY CALM!
└─ @Train: I CANT STAY CALM THIS IS TOO GOOD!!
@Corner: The fact that they held back the transformation for the entire trailer and STILL made it this intense? That's knowing your material is strong enough to sell itself.
@Fan2004: my mom wont let me see it because its PG-13 and im only 11. This is the worst day of my life.
└─ @Unde20: Show her this trailer. If my 11yo showed me THIS I'd reconsider.
└─ @Parent: Or respect your mother's rules and wait two years like a responsible child.
└─ @Fan2004: but TWO YEARS. I will be THIRTEEN. That's basically ancient.

Title: GOBLET OF FIRE TRAILER MEGATHREAD - HOLY SHIT EDITION
Posted by u/ModTeam - 9:07 AM
The trailer just dropped. We know you're all losing your minds. Keep reactions in this thread. Normal sub rules still apply. Be civil. Try not to die from hype.
….
u/Gry: I'M NOT OKAY. I'M NOT OKAY. THAT DRAGON. THAT DRAGON.
└─ u/Pride: WHICH PART. THE ROAR? THE CHASE? THE TAIL WHIP? ALL OF IT?
└─ u/Gry: YES. ALL OF IT. EVERYTHING. I THINK I BLACKED OUT FOR A SECOND.
u/Claw (9:11 AM): Just got back from an early morning 3D preview screening at my local AMC. The 2D trailer doesn't do it justice. You NEED to see this in 3D. The depth is insane.
└─ u/Heart10: Wait how did you see it in 3D already??
└─ u/Claw: Some theaters are doing special 3D trailer previews before other movies. Check your local listings. They're playing it before whatever 3D films that are running currently.
└─ u/DViewer: WHAT. I NEED THIS. WHERE. HOW. GIVE ME LOCATIONS.
└─ u/Claw: I made a separate post with a list of theaters I found doing it. Check my profile. Updated as people comment with more locations.
└─ u/DViewer: YOU ARE A SAINT. A BEAUTIFUL ANGEL SAINT.
└─ u/Filmt: The color grading in that sequence is phenomenal. Everything drains to almost black and white, and then those GREEN lights hit and it's genuinely unsettling.
└─ u/Can: I don't know what color grading means but I know that scene scared me and I am 28 years old.
u/Damage: Dumbledore's line. "Dark and difficult times lie ahead." I wasn't ready. I am still not ready. I will never be ready.
└─ u/Grieving: Knowing that's Richard Harris's last appearance makes it hit SO MUCH HARDER.
└─ u/ForDays: WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT. I WAS DOING FINE UNTIL YOU SAID THAT.
└─ u/Pro: The way the trailer holds on his face just a moment longer than the other shots. That was deliberate. That was a goodbye and I'm NOT OKAY.
u/Skeptic: I have been vocally against 3D for years. Called it a cash grab, a gimmick, unnecessary upcharging. I just saw this trailer in 3D. I was wrong. I was SO wrong. This is what the format should be.
└─ u/YouSo: VINDICATION. I have been saying native 3D is different from post-conversion trash and nobody believed me!
└─ u/Skeptic: You were right. I apologize. I am buying you a metaphorical beer.
└─ u/Stin090:: Y'all are falling for marketing hype. It's still just a gimmick.
└─ u/Skeptic: I LITERALLY JUST SAID I was you two hours ago. Go see it in 3D. Actual 3D. Then come back and we will talk.
u/ByFrame: I have watched this 6 times already and I keep finding new details. The way Harry's hand extends toward the camera in the underwater scene. The spatial relationship between the dancers in the Yule Ball. This is DENSE with visual information.
└─ u/Oriented: The SOUND DESIGN though. That dragon roar made my laptop speakers vibrate. What is this going to sound like in IMAX??
└─ u/IMAX: I volunteer to find out. For science.
u/Officer: Pre-sale numbers just jumped 15% in the last 30 minutes. This trailer is going to make SO much money.
└─ u/Money: Can we not reduce this to numbers? This is ART.
└─ u/Office: Art that's going to make $800 million+ worldwide but yes, still art.
└─ u/Dia: ...where can I find these preview screenings

Posted by Jennifer M. in "Parenting Through Pop Culture":
URGENT: My kids (6 and 9) are CONVINCED the Harry Potter people LIED about 3D. They think it's fake, a trick to make them wait longer. I've tried explaining it only works in theaters with special screens. They don't believe me. My 6yo keeps putting on her 3D glasses from the theater and getting upset when 'it doesn't work.' HELP.
Comments (47):
Sarah L.: OH MY GOD SAME. My daughter made me a certificate declaring me 'officially not trustworthy about Harry Potter.' She SIGNED it. I'm genuinely worried about my credibility as a parent.
└─ Jennifer M.: That's simultaneously hilarious and heartbreaking??
Mike R.: My son (7) built a 'movie machine' out of cardboard boxes to 'fix' the trailer. He spent TWO HOURS on this. When it didn't work he cried. I didn't know what to do. Do I explain projection technology? Do I just hug him? I chose hugging.
Patricia K.: Take them to a theater doing the 3D preview screenings! Once they SEE it actually working they'll understand. AMC and other theaters are doing it before most major releases right now.
└─ Jennifer M.: We're going this weekend. Will report back if this saves my status as a trustworthy adult.
David T.: This is why I just told my kids 'movie magic.' They accepted that explanation immediately and moved on with their homeworks.
└─ Sarah L.: My daughter would INTERROGATE me about what 'movie magic' means. She's 8 and has the cross-examination skills of a prosecutor.
Amanda R.: Anyone else's kid think the delay was FAKE and this trailer proves it? My son: 'See! The movie IS done! They LIED!' Me: 'That's just the trailer.' Him: 'That's what a LIAR would say!'
└─ Mike R.: The logic is flawless honestly.

A Viral Video.
[Video starts with an 8-year-old girl at a kitchen table with markers and regular reading glasses]
Girl's voiceover: "Okay so Mom said the Harry Potter trailer needs special BLACK glasses to be 3D. So I'm making special black glasses."
[She carefully colors the lenses of the glasses completely black with a Sharpie, tongue sticking out in concentration]
[Puts them on]
[Immediately takes them off, confused]
Girl: "I can't see anything."
[Tries again, tilting head different directions]
Girl: "Still nothing."
[Takes them off, looks directly at camera with pure betrayal]
Girl: "Mom LIED to me."
[Parent filming is clearly trying not to laugh]
Parent (off-screen): "Honey, that's not what I—"
Girl: [Already walking away, throwing the glasses on table] "I want my money back. I want a REFUND."
Parent: "Sweetheart, you didn't pay for—"
Girl: [Turning back dramatically] "A refund for my TRUST."

[One week later | News Coverage]
Entertainment Weekly - Article
"Goblet of Fire Trailer Breaks Records, Proves 3D Isn't Dead"
The Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire trailer has now been viewed over 50 million times across platforms in its first week, making it one of the most-watched trailers of 2015.
But the numbers tell only part of the story. What's remarkable is the qualitative response - the genuine enthusiasm from viewers who've seen the 3D version in theaters.
"I've been covering film for fifteen years," says critic Martha Reynolds, "and I haven't seen this level of organic excitement in a long time.
Theater chains have responded by expanding their 3D preview screenings. AMC Theatres reports that auditoriums showing the Goblet of Fire trailer in 3D have seen 40% higher attendance than standard screenings.
"People are literally buying tickets to other movies just to see this trailer in 3D." says AMC spokesperson. "We've never seen anything quite like it."
The trailer's success has also sparked renewed conversation about 3D as a filmmaking tool rather than a gimmick.
"The difference between native 3D and post-conversion is night and day," explains cinematographer Roger Deakins. "What Goblet of Fire demonstrates is that when you shoot with 3D cameras from the beginning, designing each shot for spatial depth, you create genuine immersion."
Pre-sale tickets for the film, which opens July 2nd, have already surpassed projections by 35%.

The thirty year old news anchor barely conceals her amusement–
"In entertainment news, local Harry Potter fans held what they're calling a 'countdown chain funeral' this week after the long-awaited Goblet of Fire trailer finally dropped—"
[Cut to footage of kids in a backyard standing around a paper chain laid in a shoebox "coffin"]
[Nine-year-old reading from paper written in crayon]:
"Today we say goodbye to our countdown chain. It was a good chain. It worked hard. But now it's gone because the movie FINALLY has a trailer. We forgive the people who made us wait because the trailer is really, REALLY cool. The dragon was scary. We're starting a new countdown chain for July. This one will make it."
[All children bow heads solemnly]
[One kid in back is crying]
[Cut back to anchor, smiling]
"The group says they're already halfway through their new countdown chain and quote, 'very serious about making it to July second this time.'"
