Serena walked out of the carriage to cleanse the last spring and noticed it looked abandoned. She looked around and noticed the corruption in the air compared to the last two springs she had cleansed. She knew there should be guards that guarded the spring, but this one she found nobody.
"You should stay here and keep your eyes wide open," Serena said to the coachman as she looked at the spring water under the cliff surrounded by trees and a building on the side. "Looks like the guards here drank the water not too long ago," she pointed out as she looked at the fresh blood on the building's wall and around it.
"Yes, Your Holiness," the coachman nodded, gulping nervously when he also spotted the trails of blood.
Serena released divine energy from her body to lure the guards since corruption would feel threatened by divine energy. When divine energy spread widely, she heard a screech in the distance, and then another until the screeches overlapped each other.
