Artem's POV
And so, all of us went to the southern gate of Nuevo Tacloban with payments of a handful of coins, including the Falleta Oros and Pantano Presas, and some commodities and locally made goods like cheese bread. There the delivery group, which consisted of a few independent drivers from Pantano, Dacuinia, and Falleta, was waiting for us for the order to be picked up by us. There were 5 of them for this time of the year. Among them was a Grey wolf named Stas Aleix, who was from Dacuinia. I knew him because I used to intimidate him and his previous wolf generations, both in the deliveries of the textbooks and raiding his hometown of Strada in his Grey Wolf home country. Yeah, I now regretted it, and we were now in good terms.
And then, after we made our presence, Stas and the others in the delivery group were stunned, more specifically, to our new leader. "Wait," Stas commented, "where's that old man Ruslan-san?"
"Oh," Basilio replied, "he was dead months ago, and I am now in charge of the Forest Vamzoms."
"Wait, what?!" one of the deliverymen responded with shock.
According to Fritzi, that guy was his friend Andreas Si-woo.
Okay then…
"Yeah, guys," I responded back to the delivery group, "that guy had taken his own life less than a year ago, and this Otherworlder here was chosen by him to be our new leader."
They couldn't believe their eyes and then were concerned about their generations-old contract with us.
"It's fine," Basilio, who reads their expressions, responded, "I want to break this deadly contract with you guys and those who were under it and replace it with friendly connections instead."
"A-Are you sure?" Stas asked while stammering while moving his wolf ears with his body.
"Yes, because I really don't want to continue suffering under this anymore, and so you guys will be free from it. No more fear from us now…"
He then gestured for the offers of payments for the latest editions of the history textbooks, much to their astonishment and chagrin.
And then, they couldn't believe that they are going to be free from the deadly contract and will feel free from it without any threat from us. And so, I looked at my master and said, "A friendly connection and a Handshake of Peace will break the contract."
Basilio got it and offered a handshake to the delivery group after apologizing to them for our threats and torments on them in the past of centuries.
Stas and the other deliverymen were more than happy to accept it, and in that moment, the magical contract between us and them broke. In my vision in their aura, the chains of the contract had been broken, setting them free from it. After that, we received our order and paid up with whatever we offer on hand. Stas, Andreas, and the other deliverymen in the scene were thrilled to have these as our payments to them. They promised to say of what had happened between us to their publisher clients, which we agreed.
