"No. The deal is still on, unless you change your mind." Rowan said in defense. "Why do you think I'm running from you?"
"Because whenever I'm occupied with something, you always manage to disappear before I can say a word to oppose your departure. Do you hate me now, Ashgrave?"
The hold on his lapel remained tight as their eyes remained fixated on each other. While Sera was visibly annoyed, Rowan remained calm, but eventually, his eyes softened as he looked at her. His gloved right hand reached to cup her cheek and gently caressed it with his thumb.
"Apologies. I never thought you were bothered by my absence. I just thought you would be more at ease if I'm not around."
Sera grimaced, showing her displeasure. She released him and pulled away. She didn't want to admit that she was upset with his eagerness to leave her side, but she couldn't help but feel upset with it.
This feeling confused her. Was she starting to get attached and get used to his presence?
