Aria's POV
The soft, dull light emitted by the moon was barely enough to light our way when we finally left the stifling darkness of the veil. I was grateful for it regardless. Anything was better than the dark. Though it seemed that Kael had no issues with it.
He moved with the deft feet of a person who knew exactly where he was going, the poor lightning didn't slow him down one bit, unlike I, who was left stumbling after him like a new born calf.
I bit back a curse as my legs got tangled up in another died vine, I barely caught myself before I fell face-flat on the ground. This was the sixth time it had happened in the past hour and I was getting annoyed and irritated.
"Watch where you're going" Kael called out. I could swear I heard a hint of amusement in his voice but I couldn't be sure since he had his back turned to me.
