Chapter 24 - A Quick Confrontation

Draven smiled as he continued stretching his body.

"I'm gonna end this quick," he said.

Hannah, her voice still as calm as always, replied, "Even if you know how it works, that changes—"

Before she could finish speaking, Draven suddenly disappeared.

Hannah's eyes widened.

She quickly looked around, trying to locate him.

*Where did he go?*

She couldn't sense him approaching, nor could she immediately determine where he had moved.

Then—

Draven reappeared beside her.

His crimson eyes were glowing, and he was still holding his bow in his right hand.

Without giving Hannah any time to react, he swung his left fist toward her face.

Hannah was shocked to see him appear so suddenly.

*He's fast.*

But she quickly regained her composure.

*But I can still defend.*

Draven's fist rapidly approached her face.

Just before it could connect, Hannah manipulated the wind around her, pushing his fist slightly off course.

His punch missed her face by only a few inches.

Draven's eyes narrowed slightly.

*She deflected it.*

He didn't stop.

Using the momentum from his missed punch, Draven quickly turned his body and swung his right leg toward Hannah's face.

Hannah's eyes widened again as his leg came toward her.

*He's already attacking again!*

She quickly raised her hand.

A magical barrier formed in front of her just before Draven's kick struck it.

**BOOM!**

The impact sent a powerful shock through the barrier.

Cracks immediately spread across its surface.

Hannah's eyes widened.

*What?*

The barrier shattered under the force of the kick.

Fragments of mana scattered through the air and quickly faded.

*That's not even possible.*

She couldn't understand what she had just witnessed.

*How can someone without mana break her mana barrier?*

Draven's leg continued forward after breaking through the barrier.

But just before his foot could hit Hannah's face, he suddenly stopped.

The wind from the sudden halt blew through Hannah's hair.

For a moment, the two remained completely still.

Draven's leg was only inches from her face.

Hannah stared at him.

Draven slowly lowered his leg and placed it back on the ground.

He was now standing directly in front of her.

He looked at Hannah, who was still staring back at him.

Then he smiled.

"Hey, kid, I guess I won, right?"

Hannah's expression remained completely emotionless.

"I'm not a kid," she said calmly.

Draven blinked.

Then he grinned.

"Wow, kid, you sure took your loss pretty well. I thought you would get angry and attack me."

Hannah looked at him without changing her expression.

"I'm not some kind of child that can't accept a loss. And stop calling me a kid."

Draven chuckled.

"Yeah, yeah. You still haven't told me how old you are."

Hannah remained silent.

She simply stared at him.

Draven waited for a moment.

When she didn't answer, he smiled.

"If you don't tell me, I'm going to keep calling you a kid."

Hannah finally answered.

"I'm going to be turning twenty soon."

Draven looked at her.

*She's twenty? I guess it's not that surprising.*

He glanced at her again.

*But she's older than me. I guess she doesn't have to know that.*

He smiled confidently.

"Too bad. I'm still older. I have already—"

"You just turned sixteen."

Draven froze.

His smile stiffened.

A bead of sweat slowly rolled down his face.

*Damn.*

*She already knows.*

He quickly tried to think of a way out of the situation.

*I have to get out of this.*

Still sweating nervously, Draven forced a smile.

"Hey, we should probably head back. Our moms are most likely looking for us."
