Chapter 894 - Chapter 891: The Target, The Search!

"Hiss..." After an unknown amount of time, Jiang Hai slowly got up from the ground, stretching his stiff body and neck, making meaningless noises. Don't misunderstand, Jiang Hai hadn't turned into a zombie; he had just been sleeping there. It took him about a minute to recover. He had to admit, the dosage of the drug in that syringe was truly too high. Although he couldn't recall the name of the drug for some reason, Jiang Hai, who had been buying medicine with Qi Jie recently, knew a little about it. Thanks to his superhuman physical abilities, otherwise, it wouldn't have been as simple as just sleeping. Those drugs were enough to damage brain cells. If a normal person were injected, they would probably sleep for three days at most. And more importantly, after sleeping for three days, would they become an idiot? Nobody knew.

After stretching his neck, Jiang Hai first checked his phone. It was 8:10 PM, still no signal. No internet, no calls. The phone was useless now except for taking pictures and videos. He glanced around at his surroundings.

The sky outside was completely dark. Except for the moon and stars, everything was pitch black. Through the reflected light, Jiang Hai could vaguely see some rooms downstairs with some light.

His car was still parked outside the wall, but the guard outside had disappeared sometime earlier.

He didn't know if he'd been captured by the lunatics here, or if the guard was also a lunatic.

But as long as the car was there, Jiang Hai wasn't worried, because there was a gun and gasoline inside. As long as he escaped to the car, he would be safe. Thinking of this, Jiang Hai breathed a sigh of relief, but as soon as he exhaled, he smelled a strange odor.

The stench of blood inside the house grew stronger. Jiang Hai glanced at the corpse. Although he didn't know when it had died, it looked like it had been dead for two days, because the body was already rotting, and the blood had congealed.

"Damn it, what happened!" Jiang Hai muttered under his breath, looking at the scene before him.

He wasn't inexperienced in killing, so he wasn't afraid of the dead. He was also a materialist; well, he firmly believed there were no ghosts or gods in this world, only himself was special, so he wasn't afraid of ghosts either. That's why he felt no fear even though he felt like he'd just taken a nap here.

Standing up, Jiang Hai walked to the corpse and rummaged through its pockets. Surprisingly, he found something—a Hungarian card, labeled "Guard: Wells Catch," along with his detailed information, such as his birth date and a unique barcode. This could be used to open the magnetic gate outside. Jiang Hai thought for a moment and then put the card away. He remembered needing it to leave. Putting the card in his pocket, Jiang Hai began to piece together the situation. If

he wasn't mistaken, it might be a mentally unstable person going berserk, or some kind of organization taking over this place.

The time was roughly when the black man had mentioned the wind knocking down the signal tower.

Jiang Hai didn't know exactly how these people did it, and if they really rioted, why didn't they flee after taking over the place? But as soon as he thought of this, Jiang Hai couldn't help but laugh self-deprecatingly; he had forgotten they were patients.

Perhaps, in their eyes, he was the guard, the doctor, and the nurse here.

"Anyway, I came here today to find Bruce David. I have to find him, but how? I don't even know what he looks like." Muttering to himself, Jiang Hai stroked his chin. After thinking for a moment, he decided to go outside first. Since this was a prison-like mental hospital, they would definitely have records and a monitoring room. The monitoring room could tell Jiang Hai what was happening here, and the records room could help him find Bruce David's appearance so he could find him. Thinking this, Jiang Hai nodded and gently moved the wardrobe. But as soon as he moved it, he gasped. He was somewhat glad he had moved the wardrobe to block the way, because the door had been hacked open by some sharp object.

Was it an axe or a machete? It was still a kitchen knife. Anyway, the wooden door was riddled with holes and debris; in some places, a hand could easily squeeze through. If Jiang Hai hadn't blocked the door with the cabinet, that hand might have opened it from the inside, and Jiang Hai, in his delirium, would have been facing these lunatics… Heh…

Jiang Hai shuddered at the thought. It seemed his life had been spared without him even realizing it.

Gently opening the locked door, Jiang Hai removed the needle. After a moment's thought, he tore off a relatively clean piece of sheet and put the needle away. Although he had been hit, there was still some residual medication inside, enough to deal with an ordinary person. After putting the needle away, Jiang Hai slowly opened the door.

Picking up his phone, Jiang Hai took pictures on both sides to make sure no one was there before stepping out.

Walking towards the corner on the third floor, Jiang Hai wondered if all the lunatics had gone to rest. The corridor, bustling with people in the morning, was now deserted. Jiang Hai walked slowly down the corridor, and this was where the advantage of wearing sneakers became apparent.

Because he could walk quietly, there was no sound. If he were wearing leather shoes, unless he were barefoot, his footsteps would be quite loud.

But there were needles like that on the doorknobs; what if there were more on the door handles? Wouldn't Jiang Hai be courting death?

Slowly walking along the wall, Jiang Hai, though lacking night vision (he needs a headlamp to illuminate his path even in the deep sea), still possessed excellent eyesight in the dark. Combined with his heightened sensitivity and sense of smell, eight times that of an average person, he felt quite safe. As he walked, Jiang Hai reached another corner, took a picture with his phone, and after confirming no one was around, breathed a sigh of relief. He remembered that the elevator was a short distance ahead, next to the emergency exits. He figured there must be building plans posted next to the emergency exits, for evacuation purposes. In case of fire or other emergencies, it would be disastrous if people couldn't find the plans. He figured the third floor should be empty right now…

With that thought, Jiang Hai slowly walked to the stairs on the third floor. Sure enough, there were four evacuation plans for the building: one for the third floor, one for the second floor, one for the first floor, and one for the basement. The third-floor plan was relatively simple.

There were only six lines in total: two horizontal lines dividing the floor into three sections, and four vertical lines marking passageways.

However, the third floor was entirely comprised of wards, with nothing else.

The monitoring room Jiang Hai was looking for was on the second floor, while the records room was in the basement. Thinking about it, since he had to pass through the second floor anyway, Jiang Hai wanted to know what had happened there. But just as he was about to enter the second floor through the emergency exit, the elevator suddenly started moving, heading from the first floor to the third. Needless to say, those lunatics had returned.

So Jiang Hai quickly slipped into the emergency exit, but as soon as he entered, he saw people walking upwards. Hearing the footsteps, Jiang Hai couldn't help but curse under his breath.

Fortunately, he quickly calmed down, because judging from the footsteps, there were only about two people, and he could handle two people.

"Phew!" Jiang Hai let out a long breath and hid behind the door of the third-floor emergency exit. A short while later, the people who had taken the elevator arrived. Peeking through the crack in the door, Jiang Hai saw a group of about fourteen or fifteen people.

Because the mental hospital, like any other hospital, often required patients to be wheeled in gurneys for treatment,

the elevators were quite large, reasonably seating 21 people. However, it seemed there were only about seventeen or eighteen guards on the third floor, since there wasn't much else on that floor.

After everyone left, Jiang Hai focused more on the corridor.

It seemed even the madmen sometimes knew to exercise, as they were climbing stairs. Hearing the footsteps getting closer, Jiang Hai held his breath, making sure these two didn't make a sound and attract the attention of the others.

Just then, Jiang Hai saw two guards appear at the corner of the corridor. Jiang Hai didn't say anything. Although the madmen's instincts could frighten normal people, Jiang Hai was no normal person!

With a single step, he leaped over nine flights of stairs, appearing before the two guards still climbing the building. Smelling the strong smell of disinfectant on them, Jiang Hai knew without a doubt that these two were insane. Without a word, he immediately grabbed their necks. By the time they reacted and reached for their stun guns, it was too late.

Jiang Hai tightened his grip, and with two sharp cracks, their necks snapped to one side, their bodies going limp. Seeing this, Jiang Hai let out a long sigh. Looking at the nearby trash can, he didn't say anything more, simply tossing the two men's bodies into it before continuing his ascent to the second floor. (To be continued.)
