Chapter 929 - Meeting of the Giants

"I say, do I really need to be here?" Sitting in a stretched limousine, Jiang Hai looked at the scenery outside and said to Moses Adams, who had specially come to meet him. He smacked his lips, truthfully, he wasn't very keen on coming here.

Although he had never been to Washington D.C., he honestly wasn't very interested in this center of American power.

He wasn't involved in politics, nor did he invest in power. What was he doing here? Watching an NBA game? He wouldn't watch the Wizards, though; Jiang Hai knew how bad their reputation was in China.

"Of course, it's necessary, my dear boss." Hearing Jiang Hai's words, Moses Adams couldn't help but shake his head gently. Sometimes Jiang Hai simply didn't value these things enough. Other than that, he truly was a good boss.

But since he was a good boss, if there was something he didn't want to do, Moses Adams could simply do it for him. Of course, this wasn't against Jiang Hai's will. For example, with this meeting, Jiang Hai was just too lazy to come, not actively resisting.

So Moses Adams would persuade him to come. If Jiang Hai had been a Republican, he wouldn't have persuaded him.

Everyone knew that, at least in Washington, this was Democratic territory.

After their crazy president took office, his goal was to establish new life goals for the grassroots.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to defeat a certain powerful woman, would he?

"Honestly, I'd rather play with my dogs at home than argue with those guys." Jiang Hai shook his head and said seriously to Moses Adams. Hearing him, Azalea and Wallis Shelley, who were sitting in front, also smiled, but didn't say much, knowing Jiang Hai was speaking the truth.

"Don't worry, boss, just maintain neutrality here." Moses Adams said with a smile, hearing Jiang Hai's words.

Speaking of which, Jiang Hai's presence in Washington was mainly due to one thing.

It was the letter he received that day. Jiang Hai lived a very simple life, so he didn't usually have an email account. He only registered one to play Pokémon Go and rarely logged in otherwise.

So, for formal matters, it seemed it wasn't easy to find him. Usually, such invitations were sent via email, and if email couldn't reach him, then only a letter remained.

Although this action seemed a bit low-tech, the content of the letter was quite high-level.

Besides some polite greetings, the letter mainly invited Jiang Hai to attend the Livestock Industry Summit hosted by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Livestock on January 3rd. Jiang Hai originally wanted to just toss the letter away; he had absolutely no interest in attending any meetings. He'd rather spend that time sleeping with Qi Ya and Ai Xiaoxi.

However, after learning about Jiang Hai's invitation to this summit, Qi Jie told Jiang Hai that he should actually go and see.

Later, when Jiang Hai told Moses Adams about it, he also advised Jiang Hai that he should go.

He could go and say nothing, but just by being there, he would become familiar to people. After all, he was no longer just the owner of a small ranch; he was now a supplier of about thirty percent of the top beef in the entire U.S., a Google shareholder, and a hay merchant doing business worldwide. These were all his calling cards, so he had the ability and the qualification to sit there, and he also needed to get to know his peers.

After hearing Moses Adams's words, Jiang Hai thought about it. After spending New Year's with the women at home, he chartered a business jet yesterday and flew to Washington. There was no other way; for someone like him now, flying anywhere usually meant chartering a plane. He rarely took large commercial flights anymore, as he also had to consider his safety.

After the plane landed in Washington, Jiang Hai stayed overnight at a hotel arranged by the authorities there. This morning, he came in a car also arranged by the authorities. To match the status of these top billionaires, all the cars were Lincolns without exception.

This way, there was no need to choose. Lincoln, the national car, although not expensive in the U.S., held a very prominent status.

Just like the Hongqi in China, using Hongqi to entertain guests of the state is absolutely correct, and no one can find fault with it.

After getting into the car, Jiang Hai and the others chatted idly. In fact, there must have been listening devices in the car, but Azalea and the others knew and didn't remove them. After all, this was the capital of the United States, and sometimes, letting people eavesdrop made them feel more at ease, especially since the place they were going this time was not an ordinary place, but the White House.

The car slowly drove through the streets of Washington, and Jiang Hai observed the American capital.

Washington's full name is Washington D.C. There are two places named Washington in the United States: one is this district, and the other is Washington State, where Seattle, a city with a great reputation in China, is the largest city.

However, this place has absolutely no relation to Washington D.C. One is on the East Coast, the other on the West, quite far apart. When people talk about Lake Washington, the University of Washington, Olympic National Park, etc., they are referring to Washington State, not Washington D.C. The famous landmarks in Washington D.C. are the White House, Capitol Hill, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and similar places. The most famous university here is Georgetown University.

And the White House, as everyone knows, is the home and office of the U.S. President, but the White House does not belong to anyone; it belongs to the U.S. National Park Service and is part of President's Park, not even the whole thing.

Jiang Hai quickly drove through the city of Washington, passed through the security gates, and entered the White House. Of course, before entering, he had to be searched. Weapons were definitely not allowed, nor were bodyguards. After all, this was the White House. Azalea and Wallis Shelley stayed in the car or went to the bodyguards' lounge. Only Moses Adams could accompany Jiang Hai inside, as he could still offer advice to Jiang Hai.

The White House didn't look very big; from the outside, it only appeared to be a two-and-a-half-story building, but no one knew how many floors it actually had.

As for its area, well, it's not much different from a township government in China, only slightly larger. And the interior decoration? Well, it's also similar to a township government. Okay, Jiang Hai was just spouting nonsense; what did he know about these things?… In reality, the entire White House covers 73,000 square meters and consists of three parts: the main building, the East Wing, and the West Wing. It has three floors above ground, which is correct, and officially has a ground floor, which is the basement. How deep it goes, Jiang Hai didn't know.

Stepping into the White House, Jiang Hai saw that describing it as having a guard every three steps and a sentry every step was no exaggeration.

There were security personnel almost everywhere, each wearing a suit, sunglasses, and with a bulging waist, likely carrying a gun.

Besides these people, many office workers were also walking back and forth in the corridors.

Jiang Hai saw that in the distance there were also some elementary school students visiting the White House. Was this also a way to cultivate their patriotism?

A teacher was explaining the history of the White House. Watching this scene, Jiang Hai, for some reason, suddenly thought of Cindy Clive. It seemed the first time he saw her was also in a similar setting.

But that thought, after a moment's consideration, was withdrawn. When she decided to distance herself from him, it was already over between them. She couldn't accept him having so many women around him, and he couldn't abandon these women for her.

As Jiang Hai said, he didn't have the ability to choose; only others could choose him.

Sometimes being overbearing is important, but sometimes, if the other person is in great pain, that's another matter!

Following the person leading the way, they left the main building and headed to the East Wing, which was where their meeting would be held.

The main building was primarily where the President's family lived and so on; discussions and meetings were held in the East and West Wings.

As Jiang Hai walked over, he saw some familiar faces in the distance, such as Rook Shawn and his son walking not far ahead of him, and further away, John Malone, the former TV godfather of America and currently the largest landowner in the U.S., who had just entered a room. Outside that room, a woman in a dress was standing.

Jiang Hai's eyesight was excellent; he spotted her at a glance. This woman was truly eye-catching. She was very tall, about 1.8 meters, and was wearing very high heels, which made her appear almost as tall as Jiang Hai.

Compared to the security, or rather, the secret service nearby, she also stood out considerably.

With a beautiful face and a tall, graceful figure, it had to be admitted that she was a very beautiful and elegant woman.

Although the woman was smiling at the moment, Jiang Hai sensed that she didn't seem very happy.

Seeing Rook Shawn walking towards her from a distance, she proactively went to meet him, shook hands, and then watched Rook Shawn enter. Next was Jiang Hai.

"Boss, please mind your words and actions. This is the daughter of the current U.S. President..." Although he had gone out with Jiang Hai many times and knew he wasn't a lecher or a pervert, Moses Adams still reminded him. He was quite sure Jiang Hai didn't know who this person was, so it was necessary to tell him.

"Oh?" Hearing his words, Jiang Hai was also stunned, but didn't show it. Instead, he slowly walked over, extended his hand to the woman in front of him, and gently shook hers before letting go.

"Hello, Mr. Jiang Hai, I really didn't expect you to attend this summit." The beautiful woman smiled and said to Jiang Hai. Hearing her words, Jiang Hai couldn't help but smack his lips.

"If I said I didn't expect to come either, would you believe me?" Jiang Hai said softly, looking at the woman in front of him.

"Haha, you are truly humorous. Please come in." Hearing Jiang Hai's words, the woman in front of him chuckled softly and said to Jiang Hai. (To be continued.)
