Chapter 7 - Fight

The volcanic air at the peak of Sovereign Mountain didn't just smell like sulfur; it tasted like boiling copper.

Nexar stood on the edge of the jagged caldera, his bare chest glistening with sweat that evaporated before it could drop. Down in the pit of molten rock, the island's true owner was waiting.

It wasn't a mindlessly lumbering beast. The Apex Calamity was a sleek, eight-foot-tall humanoid monstrosity carved from obsidian-like bone, its four arms ending in curved, razor-sharp scythe-blades. Crimson mana rolled off its body in thick, suffocating waves, hot enough to melt solid stone into slag.

For fifteen years, this thing's raw presence had kept the cosmic portal sealed deep within the volcanic bedrock. To open a doorway back to the human world, Nexar didn't just need to kill it—he needed to harvest its core as a sacrifice to jumpstart the rift.

The Calamity's crimson eyes locked onto Nexar. With a sound like a cracking whip, the air shattered.

BOOM.

The monster didn't run—it broke the sound barrier, appearing instantly in front of Nexar with four obsidian blades whistling toward his head, neck, and ribs in an inescapable cross-slash.

In the past, Nexar's instincts would have panicked. He would have thrown himself into the dirt, praying his leather armor held.

Instead, he activated the synergy.

Thump.

Between his brows, the Third Eye Chakra flared violet, slowing the world down to a crawl. The monster's blistering attack broke apart into glowing lines of kinetic trajectory. Simultaneously, deep in his chest, the Manipura Chakra roared to life. Golden heat flooded his veins, instantly hardening his skin, muscle, and bone into an immovable anchor.

Nexar didn't dodge. He stepped into the strike.

CLANG-THUD!

The two upper blades slammed directly into Nexar's bare left forearm. The impact sent a shockwave blasting across the crater, pulverizing the stone beneath his boots—but his arm didn't snap. The Manipura Chakra absorbed the kinetic energy, converting the monster's own godlike force straight into Nexar's physical stamina.

The Calamity's crimson eyes widened in a split second of genuine shock.

"My turn," Nexar growled.

Combining the Third Eye's structural vision with Manipura's explosive power, Nexar drove a golden, compressed fist straight into the monster's lower jaw.

CRACK!

The impact sounded like a cannon going off in a small room. Black blood and fragments of obsidian bone sprayed into the air as the eight-foot monster was launched upward, tumbling violently through the volcanic ash.

Nexar didn't give it a chance to breathe. He leaped after it, propelled by a burst of golden kinetic force.

What followed wasn't a clean, cinematic duel. It was a brutal, ground-and-pound slaughter.

The Calamity fought like a cornered demon, spinning mid-air to rake its lower scythes across Nexar's chest. The blades tore through skin, drawing hot, crimson blood—pain flared, sharp and grounding—but Nexar didn't flinch. He grabbed the monster's upper right arm with his bare hand, planted his foot onto its ribs, and pulled.

With a sickening, wet tear of muscle and bone, Nexar ripped the arm clean off.

The beast shrieked—a high-pitched, metallic howl that rattled the caldera—and blasted a concentrated beam of raw crimson mana point-blank into Nexar's face.

The heat burned his eyebrows and charred his leather coat, but Nexar channeled the Third Eye to slice through the spell's energy flow, while Manipura absorbed the thermal shock. He drove his forehead straight down into the monster's face-plate in a brutal headbutt.

BANG!

They hit the molten floor of the crater together, kicking up a geyser of lava.

Drenched in blood—both his own and the monster's black slime—Nexar pinned the thrashing Calamity into the rock. The beast whipped its tail, piercing Nexar's left shoulder, but Nexar just gritted his teeth, grabbed the monster's throat with his left hand, and raised his right fist.

Golden solar energy and violet cosmic perception merged around his knuckles, spiraling into a terrifying, singular point of pure destructive force.

"You kept me locked on this rock for fifteen years," Nexar panted, his breath ragged, blood dripping from his chin onto the creature's shattered face. "Thanks for the fuel."

He drove his fist down.

BOOM!

The final strike crushed the Calamity's chest cavity, shattering its spine and driving the shockwave deep into the volcano's roots. The monster twitched once, its crimson eyes fading into dull gray stone, before its body began to dissolve into a boiling, liquid core of pure, concentrated energy.

Nexar stood up, chest heaving, wiping the black blood from his eyes. His body ached, his skin was burned, and blood trickled from three deep gashes on his ribs—but he felt alive. Stronger than anything this island had ever produced.

He reached down into the chest of the dead Apex, wrapping his hand around the glowing, pulsing monster core.

He dragged the core toward the ancient stone archway sitting at the center of the volcanic pit—the dormant cosmic portal.

Nexar slammed the Calamity's core directly into the altar's central socket.

RUMBLE!

The ground shook violently as the dormant spatial rift drank the monster's energy greedily. The stone arch flared, torn open by a roaring, galaxy-colored vacuum of stars and swirling nebulae—the exact same portal that had swallowed him twenty years ago.

Nexar pulled his torn hoodie over his blood-stained shoulders. He didn't look back at the emerald jungle, the dragon lake, or the mountain peak.

He stepped directly into the cosmic tear, letting the starlight swallow him whole.

"Ready or not, Earth," Nexar whispered into the void. "The kid's back."
