By now, Selin felt as if her legs could no longer support her weight.
Aurora straightened and took her hand, almost politely.
"You don't look well," she said with a pleasant smile. "Let me see you out."
Selin did not resist. The strength had drained from her completely.
Aurora led her out of the venue, the lively music fading behind them, replaced by the cold quiet of the night air. Outside, the faint smell of rain lingered on the wind.
She opened the car door and calmly guided Selin inside.
As Selin settled into the seat, Aurora looked at her one last time.
"Hopefully," Aurora said, "we never meet again."
Selin said nothing. She watched Aurora walk away, her hands trembling uncontrollably, only after the figure disappeared.
She pressed a hand to her racing heart.
"It's fine… I won't go back. It's over."
Yet bitterness still filled her chest.
