The next day after dropping Josh off at school, Jamal and Dawn headed for I-Global to meet with Tom and Harry so they could find out what happened in Westend.
As Jamal drove the car, Dawn hummed softly to the tune of the music playing in the stereo.
"Do you think that maybe they weren't able to resolve the issue? Perhaps that's why Tom didn't want to talk about it last night?" Jamal asked after a moment.
"Tom doesn't seem to me like the kind of man who would evade a question because of something like that," Dawn said easily.
Jamal nodded thoughtfully. "You're right."
Before either of them could say another word, Jamal's phone rang.
He winced when he saw Callan's name displayed on the dashboard.
Thinking about his last discussion with Callan, he wondered what Callan would think when he told him he'd made up with Dawn.
"I totally forgot to check on them," he murmured as he reluctantly received the call.
"Hey!" Jamal answered. "Did you arrive safely?"
