Diego, with his merry band of vampires, a sizable group of men primarily composed of Nightwalkers, made their way to the French Quarter Coven seeking revenge after receiving a tip from Thierry's unnamed informant.
They were informed that another ritual was underway this night, and they had to act quickly to prevent it. Diego and the men grinned, thinking of the last harvest ritual they had massacred.
Upon entering the Lafayette Cemetery, they saw a grisly sight. The body of a woman covered in blood with visible signs of torture was placed in the center of the open area.
Losing all decorum, Thierry wailed, "KATIE!" running to the body.
Taken aback by his reaction, Diego and the men slowly approached.
A laugh came from the dark as the witches stepped out of the shadows surrounding them.
"Did you think we wouldn't discover a traitor among us after all this time?" Agnes asked with a sneer. Carrying in her hand, the dark object, Rosary of Madness, a white intricately carved wooden bead rosary.
Thierry shook with rage, eyes filled with tears, clutching Katie's body as he looked at her, "I'll kill you for this, I'll kill you all!" he seethed.
"I'm sure you will," Agnes smirked, using the rosary. It's activating light, matching the one in Thierry's eyes, unbeknownst to him and the other vampires.
Standing, Thierry stumbled and shook his head as Diego steadied him. "Whoa, you okay? Are you sure you're up for this?" Diego asked as the men readied themselves for battle.
"I'm fine!" Thierry growled, swatting his hand away. The image of Agnes flickering over Diego's.
"Okay, get ready! We came here to kill some witches. So let's kill some witches!" shouted Diego, leaving Thierry to it.
Thierry shook his head again, rubbing his eyes as the two leaders, Agnes and Diego, signaled the attack.
The witches might have been magically weaker of late, but that did not make them any less deadly as blasts of magic and traps took out chunks of vampires.
A vampire sped after a fleeing witch between two tombs, the walls instantly crushing him as he stepped across her trap.
On the opposite side, a group of witches were chanting a spell that turned the ground into mud, slowing the vampires long enough to be bound by roots shooting from the ground, allowing other witches to stake them with little difficulty.
But not all was going well for the witches, as many of the vampires were made up of Nightwalkers, willing to throw themselves through fire for a chance at a daylight ring. Charging in recklessly to score kills on the much less numerous witches.
A group of witches and warlocks firing deadly blasts from their hands was soon overwhelmed and torn asunder.
Another group of witches struggled to keep their distance as they combined their magics to pop the heads of any vampires that targeted them, but soon met the same fate as the previous group.
One of them managed to magically pull the small iron gates from around the tombs into a shield in the nick of time, saving himself.
Should things have continued as they were, it would have been only a matter of time before the witches lost, but then Thierry made his move. Striking at his men from behind, he began to slaughter his confused allies, who were suddenly betrayed and beset from both sides.
A cry from the back soon got Diego's attention as Thierry made a beeline for him, putting down any vampire that got in his way.
The witches exploited the chaos among their ranks to intensify their attacks, further reducing their numbers.
"Thierry! What are you doing!?" Diego yelled as he dodged his reckless charge.
"You can plead all you want Agnes, but I'll make you pay for what you've done!" Thierry yelled back, lunging at him.
"Agnes? Have you lost it man? Wake up!" shouted Diego right as Theirry landed a hit, his head snapping to the right from the blow.
A free vampire came to his aid, pulling Thierry off, allowing Diego to get a clean strike in, knocking his cap off.
"Snap out of it!" Diego growled.
Completely lost in the throes of madness, Thierry could no longer respond as his instincts took over.
Lifting his feet, he kicked Diego back, then head butted the one holding him from behind, freeing himself.
Swiftly spinning around, he snaps the neck of his captor before turning his attention back to Diego, who realizes that words won't free him from whatever the witches have done to him.
"Fuck me, even if I survive, Marcel's going to kill me for this," Diego cursed his rotten luck as Thierry came at him yet again, victory slipping from his grasp.
It took the help of two more vampires to subdue him, finally snapping his neck as the battle around him grew grimmer by the minute.
An explosion from somewhere in the city woke him to the reality of the situation, and he called it, "Retreat, Retreat, fall back to the city!" Diego yelled, carrying Thierry away.
Then came cries from the entrance as a woman with a sword cut down those who tried to pass her.
"Who the fuck is that! Retreat! Ignore her and run around!" shouted Diego, cutting his losses.
Spotting the one giving the orders, Rayna sped over, landing a slash across his arm as he fled by her.
Despite the win, the witches were in no mood to celebrate their pyrrhic victory as the last vampires escaped.
They then turned to the unknown woman, unsure if she was friend or foe.
"Why would a vampire help us?" asked one of the witches as Rayna approached them.
"I'm not a vampire," Rayna denied.
"You move like one," another accused as they gathered together.
"I'm Rayna, the slayer, and I've come to learn about what's been going on here. Who is you're leader?" she asked.
"The slayer!" Agnes exclaimed in shock, stepping forward, having heard tales of the famed warrior created by the big covens to dish out penance to those who defy them since she was young. Little did she know Rayna was the very same one who once hunted the vampires and their makers, the Originals, in this very city all those years ago. "I'm Elder Agnes. If you come with me, your ladyship, I'll fill you in on everything."
