Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Tree of Crystal Petals

While they continued walking through the tunnel, Kiseki could see tools of various shapes, from swords, daggers, among others, as well as scrolls that seemed to contain jutsu, according to him, since on them the name of the seal was written and marked, which said Shōton, and they also varied in different colors.

As they advanced, they could see how the tunnel opened up, revealing a small underground meadow where natural light entered, illuminating everything, especially the center. At the same time, it was possible to see five crystals of different colors surrounding this center. These five crystals, which were slightly elevated and embedded in the walls, gave the illusion that, if activated, a waterfall would form. There was even one active crystal, the light blue one, from which a clear water stream flowed, similar to the Suiton element, which nourished what was in the center a tree that was pale, but still emanated a faint power.

Kiseki was surprised to see this place; he could not stop admiring its beauty and its subtle power. Seeing his son's reaction, Kizashi could not help but let out a slight smile.

—What you are seeing, Kiseki, is the greatest secret of our clan or family the Tree of Crystal Petals. This very tree was what gave us enough power to stand on the same level as the great families of the ninja world, although unfortunately it is dying over time —Kizashi finished with a heavy and sad tone.

Kiseki, upon hearing and seeing all this, was shocked and understood why he felt that faint presence of power emanating from it. Then he asked curiously:

—Father, why is the Tree of Crystal Petals dying?

Kizashi, hearing his son's question, cleared his throat and said:

—It is because, for the tree to be properly nourished, five ninjas from the Haruno clan who are strong enough are needed to activate these crystals and make the crystal waterfalls form, so that this tree can be reborn and give us again the power needed to protect our clan, or rather our family. As you may have noticed, only one crystal is glowing, which is the light blue Suiton one. Our family, which was the leader of the Haruno, stood out for its strong Suiton nature. In our time, we were even better at using water than the Second Hokage, but that was during the warring states period.

—So that means my element is water —Kiseki asked.

—Yes, son, your element is Suiton and the Kekkei Genkai of Shōton.

Kiseki, upon hearing this, thought:

"Good… with a Kekkei Genkai and the Suiton element I have many ideas for my ninja path."

Kiseki was truly happy with his nature. Water had always been something he loved in his past life; the ocean, the sea, or the rain relaxed him. The sound, the smell, and the sensation… even if he had not been reborn in this incredible Naruto world, he would have liked to be a fish.

Kizashi cleared his throat so his son would stop his thoughts and focus on what he was going to say next. When he saw that Kiseki was listening attentively, he continued:

—As I was saying, five ninjas or Harunos are needed who master each of these natures. When that happens, the tree will be reborn, but now, with our clan fragmented, I don't know if I will ever see the day when the tree is reborn and rises again —Kizashi said sadly.

Kiseki, hearing this, asked doubtfully:

—But father, if thanks to this secret and power of the Tree of Crystal Petals we were so strong, why couldn't we defend ourselves properly in that time?

Kizashi, upon hearing this, replied:

—I don't understand it either, son. With the great power that the Tree of Crystal Petals gave our clan, we were forced to hide and fragment ourselves in order to survive. Although one of my hypotheses, which your grandfather also had, was that when we died we could not rest in peace.

Kiseki, hearing this, did not understand and asked:

—What do you mean, father?

Kizashi replied with a serious tone:

—According to the grandfather, in those times, whenever a Haruno member died, they were buried next to the Tree of Crystal Petals, and it would embrace them and consume them, as a form of rest, so to speak. After all, this tree gave us Harunos, simple humans, the power to become a clan with a Kekkei Genkai. But when the hunt against our clan happened and the members could no longer return their bodies to the Tree of Crystal Petals, its power slowly became fragmented, to the point where only one-fifth could be used, which was not enough to defend ourselves. However, over time, with the Tree of Crystal Petals not being used, it has recovered all its power, but since the other four crystals are not activated, the tree is slowly dying. And when that happens, our clan and family will perish.

Kizashi finished with a resigned sigh.

Kiseki, hearing this, quickly asked:

—But father, can we still find members, or is there no other option to save us?

Kizashi, hearing his son's concern, replied:

—You see that bracelet you have and the one Sakura has? Those bracelets contain a crystal that is a piece of the Tree of Crystal Petals, which protects you when the Tree of Crystal Petals dies, but you will lose your Kekkei Genkai. Although we never thought you would awaken it, and especially with such power that you even broke the seal collar that restricted and removed this Kekkei Genkai. Your lineage was superior, and the collar could not withstand it, which means you have the same purity of lineage as our first clan ancestor.

Kiseki, upon hearing so much information, was so shocked that he could not even move. He saw how his father took a moment and knelt down to his level, looking him directly in the eyes.

—I know that you, Kiseki, can make the Haruno great again and perhaps save our greatest treasure the Tree of Crystal Petals.

After finishing this, he hugged him while Kiseki remained completely stunned, still processing everything.
