Chapter 607: Itachi Uchiha's Legacy
Sora voluntarily stepped down, and Kazuma became the new leader.
After absorbing a large number of prisoners, they conquered Kusagakure at an extremely fast pace. It must be said that the elders of Kusagakure were truly idiotic. They were still daydreaming about using the Box of Ultimate Bliss to make their village dominate the ninja world; it's hard to imagine what they were thinking. Several Kusa elders, with their most trusted subordinates, foolishly left the village to negotiate with Kazuma's group. As a result, Kazuma tore them all to shreds with his bare hands, and his forces took the opportunity to occupy Kusagakure."
Ino was very annoyed. Why was this group shouting "Yamanaka Ino must die"? Was he really that good at attracting hatred?
That worthless trash Kazuma had been resurrected, and was now rumored to be of "unfathomable strength"? Ino scoffed, not considering him much of a threat.
Minato turned to Shikaku. "What is the Staff Office's opinion?"
Shikaku's reply was firm. "For those who disrupt the existing structure of the ninja world and invade Kusagakure, we must dispatch a large army to annihilate them. It would be best to issue a crusade order in the name of the five great ninja villages."
These monks, samurai, and ronin were all class enemies of the ninja. There was nothing to discuss. Just kill them.
Minato looked at Koharu Utatane.
The old woman coughed. "The Land of Iron says that Okisuke and those samurai were merely hired. Their actions were personal and have nothing to do with the Land of Iron's neutrality."
Homura Mitokado also nodded slightly. "The Fire Temple likewise claims to know nothing; they say it was Sora's personal doing."
Tsunade sneered at the spineless cowards.
Minato glanced at Kakashi, who nodded.
The high-level leadership was in complete agreement: they must annihilate Kazuma's group occupying Kusagakure.
Konoha quickly notified its allies of its decision.
Sunagakure was the most enthusiastic; they had to support their "Fifth Kazekage." Iwagakure was next; they had no choice, as they were the closest to Kusagakure where Kazuma was based.
In the end, Kirigakure and Kumogakure also agreed to send troops.
Ino had little interest in this matter. He was busy in the village with Hinata, setting up their new home. He didn't want to go out and fight.
Kakashi was becoming more and more proficient with Kamui, but the chakra consumption of the jutsu was related to the size of the object being transported.
Every three to five days, he secretly used Kamui to send Obito food and water, and once a month, he went to talk to him in person.
Even though he could trick Naruto into giving him chakra, the frequent use over a long period had left him in a listless state.
Minato was very worried about his health. You want to send him to lead an army to war? Don't be ridiculous. What if he died out there?
Minato was the Hokage; there was no need for him to personally lead a campaign against a group of rabble.
Ino was practically on wedding leave, and Kakashi was in poor health. So, who should they send?
As the Jonin Class Leader, Kakashi had a significant say in who would lead the army into battle.
He recommended Sasuke.
Sasuke already possessed Jonin-level kenjutsu and Lightning Release. His Sage Mode was mediocre and required a lot of preparation, but it was usable. Now, he had successfully integrated the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan and obtained the Uchiha clan's heirloom, the Gunbai. His strength was no less than that of Madara Uchiha when he defected from the village.
With his power, dealing with that motley crew of enemies should be no problem.
However, he lacked the prestige to command the allied forces.
Konoha decided to send Tsunade as the General, with Sasuke as the field Commander, leading 3,000 ninja to the Land of Grass to suppress the rebellion.
Iwa would send 2,000, Kumo 1,000, and Suna and Kiri 500 each. The allied forces assembled an army of 7,000, more than enough to flatten the Land of Grass.
As Sasuke was ordering his subordinates to prepare supplies and weapons, he suddenly remembered something. He hesitated for a moment before calling Sakura over and whispering a few words.
Sakura understood immediately. She went straight home, turned the place upside down, and scraped together her savings once more.
Her life was too hard. Every day, she calculated her and Sasuke's income, subtracted the loan payment, and only then knew her disposable income. She hadn't bought new clothes in half a year.
What? Not pay? The merchant groups that provided the loan didn't have much cash on hand themselves. They were just a front for the major temples. Those temple forces weren't even afraid of Yamanaka Ino, so why would they be afraid of you, Sakura Haruno? Just pay back the loan obediently!
Irregular diet, immense stress... the sound of a knock on the door made her think it was the debt collectors.
Sakura had finally succeeded in love—Sasuke had accepted her—but she was extremely poor in material wealth. It was a life of painful bliss.
She took her savings to find Ino.
After the meeting, Ino had gone home to rest.
Hinata felt his calligraphy was truly average. What was the use of only knowing how to write the character for "mourning"? It's not like their family was in the funeral business. He had to make his other characters look good, too!
The two were practicing calligraphy when Sakura showed up.
Hinata poured tea for them and politely returned to her room.
"What's up?" Ino rubbed his wrist. Hinata's handwriting was quite elegant. Following her instruction, Ino tried to restrain his strength and correct his old writing habits, which felt somewhat awkward.
Sakura organized her words. "Do you know how to use Spirit Weapons?"
Ino smiled. "Of course. What's so hard about that?"
Sakura was used to his boastful attitude. She said, "I mean... if... if a spirit weapon is stored inside an eye... do you know how to get it out?"
Ino chuckled and held out his hand.
Sakura clutched her chest, feeling her blood pressure shoot up.
Her visits to the hospital were becoming more and more frequent. Konoha's number one patient was Hayate Gekkō, the second was Kakashi, and the third... was probably her, Sakura Haruno.
With a pained expression, she took out the check for Sasuke's most recent mission payment—a full 1.7 million ryo—and handed it to Ino.
"Ahem, knowledge is priceless..." Ino looked at the number on the check and cleared his throat. "But this really isn't hard. I'll tell you. If you want to use a spirit weapon, you can put your unique spiritual imprint on it. It's actually just a small sealing jutsu, nothing as complex as the Five Elements or Four Symbols. I'll draw you a standard formula. Look, you can do it like this... this... or this... then add some functions... and finally, seal a part of your chakra inside. You can take it out when you need it and put it back when you don't."
Sakura memorized every word.
Ino didn't take any more money from her and continued, "If it's someone else's weapon and you can't get it out, there's a way for that too..."
Sakura stared at him intently. This was precisely the problem Sasuke was facing.
Itachi Uchiha had left behind two Spirit Weapons: the Sword of Totsuka and the Yata Mirror. Sasuke believed they were inside his current Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, but he couldn't get them out and didn't know how. He could only send Sakura to buy the answer from Ino.
