Chapter 648 - Chapter 648: The Death of Otsutsuki Toneri

The light of the Infinite Tsukuyomi spread out in all directions.

Uchiha Madara, who was about to arrive on the battlefield, anticipated this. Upon seeing the moon turn red, he immediately activated his Rinnegan and manifested Susanoo. The blue Susanoo donned a layer of dense armor, but feeling that still wasn't safe enough, he controlled Susanoo to open its wings, covering its body completely and isolating himself from any contact with the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Senju Hashirama didn't react in time. Not just him—even Minato Namikaze, with his extraordinary reaction speed, was a beat too slow. The light descended far faster than a person's reaction time. As his gaze made contact with the Infinite Tsukuyomi, Minato Namikaze's eyes also took on the shape of the Kamui Mangekyo.

"What's going on?" Senju Hashirama was stunned. "Fourth Hokage? Can you hear me?"

In the original timeline, an incredibly weak Yamato had resisted the Infinite Tsukuyomi for several seconds. Wood Release, as a bloodline limit, has always possessed a strong resistance to genjutsu, a concept that could even be extended to the planet's native consciousness versus an alien one.

Senju Hashirama had fought Madara his whole life and had never once been caught in a genjutsu. The Infinite Tsukuyomi was of a high level, but at its core, it was still a genjutsu.

Though his mind hadn't caught up, his body reacted first. Senju Hashirama's Wood Release was truly honed to perfection, and the natural environment around him was extremely partial to him. With a clap of his hands, a vast amount of surrounding vegetation spontaneously formed a protective barrier. Layer upon layer of countless roots, vines, and leaves completely shielded him, not letting a single sliver of light through.

The light of the Infinite Tsukuyomi reached Ino's location as well.

Otsutsuki Toneri was already spent, having exhausted a massive amount of his chakra through the continuous use of "Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion" and "Silver Wheel Reincarnation Explosion."

This tactic of crazily unleashing ultimate moves right from the start could only be described as flashy but extremely foolish. Who starts a card game by throwing down all four 2s at once? Are you insane?

Otsutsuki Toneri's actions were foolish, but with his ultimate moves, he still managed to stall Ino for nearly ten minutes.

Ten minutes later, with all his trump cards gone, it was Ino's turn to thrash Otsutsuki Toneri with the Rainbow Light Fishing Rod.

The sudden burst of intense light interrupted the battle.

Otsutsuki Toneri was clearly startled. It wasn't that he lacked combat experience, but rather that he had no combat experience at all.

When watching others fight, it's easy to find an opening for a sneak attack, but once you're in the thick of it, calmly analyzing the situation becomes impossible.

However, the Tenseigan also possessed a considerable degree of resistance to the Infinite Tsukuyomi. He hesitated for a moment, contemplating whether he should return directly to the moon. This brief hesitation created a massive opening.

Ino reached out and grabbed him by the neck. Before his Truth-Seeking Orb could attack, her right fist had already smashed into Toneri's face.

In terms of strength, Ino had never held the advantage, but it all depended on who she was compared to and where the blow landed.

The structure of a face dictates that it is not as hard as a fist.

With one punch, she broke Toneri's nose. Her left hand gripped his collar tightly as her right fist rained down like a storm. On the third punch, her index and middle fingers shot out, gouging out both of Toneri's eyes.

"Ah!—" Toneri screamed in pain, but Ino felt not a shred of pity. Without his Tenseigan, this guy had no chance of ever making a comeback.

The light of the Infinite Tsukuyomi drew ever closer. Even she didn't dare to face this Kekkei Mora ability of Kaguya Otsutsuki head-on.

She too deployed Susanoo, blocking the light from her body.

Otsutsuki Toneri felt an immense pain in his eyes, followed by pitch-black darkness, and an even greater sense of fear. He was blind again, a cripple once more.

With a flick of her wrist, Ino fused Yin-Yang Release with her own spiritual energy to form a golden rope. She looped it around Otsutsuki Toneri's neck. Countless fine threads making up the rope pierced into his chakra pathways, sealing them while simultaneously igniting a high-temperature mist characteristic of Boil Release from the inside out. Smoke billowed from Otsutsuki Toneri's eyes, ears, mouth, and nose as a vast amount of his chakra was dissolved, and his internal pathways were almost completely destroyed. Finally, Ino pierced his chest with a sword.

Toneri, his eyes now bloody sockets, desperately gripped the blade, as if seeing his own death.

A series of crisp cracking sounds echoed from his heart as layer after layer of solid ice stripped away all the life from his body.

"Die, you reckless fool. It's rare to see someone as clueless as you. No, wait, you never had eyes to begin with!" Ino flicked her long sleeve, and the frozen body of Otsutsuki Toneri was shattered into powder.

Master Six Paths cared about his brother, not these descendants of his brother. Strictly speaking, the Otsutsuki main family on the moon should have had a closer bloodline to Hamura Otsutsuki, but the old man showed no reaction when the main family was wiped out. If they were destroyed, they were destroyed. What did that have to do with him? Now that Ino had snuffed out the sole remaining member of the branch family, the old man might feel a little regret, but he wouldn't care too much about it.

The intense light of the Infinite Tsukuyomi finally dissipated. At its root, it was still a ninjutsu, not a permanent debuff; it had a duration.

Ino deactivated her Susanoo. She rummaged through some of the spoils and a few keys she had taken from Otsutsuki Toneri. No time now, but in a few days, she would go treasure hunting on the moon!

She still hadn't found the secret passage connecting the moon's Otsutsuki to the ninja world, but it didn't matter. She could just fly there directly! The Otsutsuki clan had the ability to traverse the cosmos physically. Their flight speed in a vacuum might not be fast, but they could definitely fly, and she now possessed this ability as well.

"I'm exhausted!" She plopped down on the ground.

After sitting for only two seconds, she had to stand back up.

Activating the Crossing Moon Bridge, she returned to Konoha Village.

Hinata, Shizune, Tsunade, and the others, without exception, had all fallen under the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

The entire village's population, with no one spared.

The reason for specifically emphasizing "population" is because non-human creatures had survived.

"Ino, what is going on? Can you break this jutsu?" The Third Hokage's soul emerged from the dazed body of Danzo. The old man had tried everything he could think of but was unable to wake the people controlled by the genjutsu. He was frantic.

"Oink, oink!" Tonton also ran over, carrying its son, the two-year-old Tontonke, in its mouth.

Tonton was fine, but Tontonke was not.

Many of the animals in the village, including Kiba Inuzuka's ninja hound Akamaru and the ninja cats that roamed the village, had all fallen under the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Tonton shared a portion of King Enma's life force and shackles. Fundamentally, King Enma was being controlled by Kaguya Otsutsuki's Rinne Sharingan. Since he was already under control, how could the Infinite Tsukuyomi, which stemmed from the very same source, be used to control him again? It made no sense!

Tonton and the Third Hokage were the only two survivors in the village. And since neither was human, it just goes to show that humans have their limits!
