When it came to absorption ability, the gap between Ino and the Majin could not be overstated — not even the phrase 'a hundred thousand li apart' would do it justice. Ino needed calculations, careful partitioning, and painstaking vetting, treading on thin ice every step of the way, terrified that a foreign consciousness might bleed into her own. The Majin had no such concerns. She just rolled up her sleeves and sucked. Influences? Consequences? She couldn't care less.
No matter how small the form, no matter how many times she'd been reset to zero, a living, kicking Majin was still infinitely more dangerous than a remnant soul.
The result was never in doubt.
Another fragment of the West Supreme Kai's remnant soul had been absorbed.
Majin Buu pressed on without pause, sweeping through the cosmos in search of more.
First: the ice shelf of a planetary ring. Then: a barren, lifeless world that had once been ravaged by Frieza and his ilk. Finally: a comet whose orbital path traced nearly half the length of the universe.
One by one, she tracked down four fragments of the West Supreme Kai's remnant soul.
Together with the three she had "originally absorbed," all seven fragments were now gathered.
What Majin Buu needed was not the West Supreme Kai's power — it was her wisdom.
She gathered all seven fragments together. Before the souls could fully reconverge and the true West Supreme Kai could stir back to wakefulness and cry out in alarm, Buu shoved the poor wretch straight back into her cocoon.
The West Supreme Kai, reunited but still a remnant soul, nonetheless granted Majin Buu an enormous leap in intelligence. It would not be an exaggeration to say she was now the most intellectually formidable Majin in existence.
She began to assess her situation.
As things stood, Vegetto wasn't even worth factoring in. That man's power had gone so far beyond the ceiling that it defied comprehension. She estimated she could absorb eight or nine more Supreme Kais and still not be able to touch him — the gap between them was simply too vast.
Still, from the West Supreme Kai's memories, she had learned about the Potara Earring fusion. She knew it only lasted one hour.
One hour? She couldn't even last one minute against him.
And besides — she wasn't even confident she could beat Son Goku's Super Saiyan 3.
Then there was Ino's Time Domain, which was frankly bizarre. Last time, Ino had burned far too much power trying to rescue the Grand Supreme Kai — if she hadn't been splitting her focus like that, if she'd aimed that technique directly at Buu from the start, Majin honestly didn't know how she would have dealt with it.
So what now?
The Majin fell back on instinct: keep absorbing powerful beings throughout the universe. Once her energy grew vast enough, those maddening domain techniques wouldn't be able to hold her. And now, with the West Supreme Kai's wisdom guiding her, her thinking was clearer and her goals more focused than ever.
"You're the one!" She spotted a target quickly and teleported to them with a cold chuckle. "Heh heh!"
Zamasu regarded the Majin who had materialized before him without so much as a flicker of expression. His eyes held only resolve.
His arm trembled once. A hand-blade of pale violet energy, roughly a foot in length, slowly manifested.
Lady Buu hastily raised both hands, signaling that she had no intention of attacking.
Seeing Zamasu, she inwardly cursed her rotten luck.
The Majin still harbored a deep-seated wariness when it came to the Grand Supreme Kai.
Absorbing someone with too strong a personality was dangerous — it could corrupt the Majin's own sense of self.
The Grand Supreme Kai's boundless goodness had collided and cancelled with the Majin's own boundless evil, and the result had been a fat, simple-minded, childlike oaf. By her current standards of intelligence, that whole episode was something she'd rather never think about again.
Looking at Zamasu now, she suppressed a sigh. This one radiated a sense of justice so pure, so absolute, it had almost curdled into fanaticism...
If she absorbed this Supreme Kai, her mental state would definitely destabilize. Severely.
There was a real chance she'd go insane the next second.
The Majin quickly pivoted to a different approach.
"Hold on — don't attack. I have something to say!"
Zamasu blinked. He had assumed this Majin was an assassin dispatched from the Demon Realm — he'd killed plenty of Majins and Witches like that over the years.
He hadn't found much in the way of strong fighters in the Seventh Universe aside from Son Goku's group, so he had been planning to head over to the Sixth Universe next. As for this Majin blocking his path — his original intent had been to cut her down first and ask questions later.
Good and evil could not coexist. He had killed far too many Majins and Witches to be bothered by one more.
But this Majin's aura gave him pause. "What do you want to say? Majin."
Lady Buu pointed at herself, her entire bearing shifting in an instant. "Greetings, Lord Supreme Kai. I am not a Majin. I am West Supreme Kai Leila. I did not die in my battle against Majin Buu — my body was destroyed, but my soul survived and was reborn within the Majin's body. I cannot fully control this creature's actions. I humbly ask for your help in resurrecting me. In return, I am willing to share my Sacred World of the Kai with you."
Zamasu: "???"
You people in the Seventh Universe really do play games, don't you.
Zamasu studied the Majin carefully. "You claim to be a Supreme Kai? Then why not seek help from your former companions, rather than coming to me?"
The Majin was highly intelligent now — but intelligence didn't mean omniscience.
Zamasu's war against the Demon Realm had unfolded over the past several years, and since she had only just broken free from her seal, she knew nothing of it.
The knowledge of a Supreme Kai was vast as an ocean and deep as the stars were numerous. Even without prior acquaintance, a single glance was enough for Ino or Shin to identify that Zamasu belonged to a different universe. The West Supreme Kai's soul within the Majin possessed that same knowledge — but the Majin herself didn't know she had it, and so couldn't perceive the distinction between Zamasu and the other Supreme Kais.
She could only answer vaguely. "My memories are in terrible disarray right now. The Majin's evil still bleeds into me..."
She saw Zamasu shift back into a combat stance and bit back a curse. Why was this guy so trigger-happy? Was he really a Supreme Kai?
She adopted her most pitiful, helpless expression. "I don't know who I can trust. I can only act on instinct."
The unspoken subtext: I don't trust the Seventh Universe's Supreme Kais. I only trust you.
That landed. Zamasu found himself two-tenths convinced — the Seventh Universe's Supreme Kais really were useless!
He had gotten hold of a phone over here that was supposedly a direct line to the Supreme Kai. He'd tried calling it, and spent half an hour waiting for someone to pick up. If there had been a real emergency, it would have been over before the call even connected.
What the Seventh Universe lacked was precisely someone like him — someone willing to act, capable of acting.
Zamasu's future moral framework would become grotesquely warped, but he hadn't reached that point yet. For now, he simply wanted to purge the cancer of the Demon Realm and cleanse evil in his own way.
Kill all the bad people, and there would be no more bad people in the world.
A Supreme Kai should act like a gardener pulling weeds — the moment a problem weed was spotted, it should be torn out by the roots. Not standing idly by, waiting for those weeds to evolve on their own. Whether mortals understood this or not was irrelevant. A god had no need to concern himself with their opinions.
He meant to prove his philosophy to his teacher, Old Kai Gowasu.
His current motivations were, at their core, still rooted in justice and order.
He asked the Majin, "So you came to me?"
The Majin answered with practiced humility. "Yes, my lord. I need your help."
