Chapter 489
Seraphina
I'm exhausted.
I can't bring myself to care about anything. Reacting is too much. I've cried enough. I'm tired now.
The days blur together. I wake up. I eat. I sit. I sleep. I wake up again. The same thing. Over and over.
The door opens. Kai walks in. He has Kenta on his arm and a small bag in the other. He is happy. It radiates off him. If he is happy, I am happy.
"Hello, Una," the boy says.
"Hi, Kenta. How are you?"
I do my best to sound cheery. I have mixed feelings about the boy. He is so small and loveable and so like my Kai. But he is also walking, constant proof that Kai betrayed me. And that he might one day leave me.
"Great!" he says.
Kai laughs and rubs his head.
"Kenta is excited," he says. "He has been talking about this all week."
"Mm."
"He wants to show you his new toy. A wooden wolf. Rylan carved it for him."
"Rylan?"
"Yes. He has been helping Diana. With Kenta. He is good with children."
