I shift back to human form. The black wolf shifts too.
"How could you do that!" I say.
Kai just looks at me deadpan. Then he runs his fingers through his hair and shouts. It's surprising because Kai is never like this.
"You think I wanted to!"
"You think I wanted to break my bond with my mate?!!!"
I clench my fists.
"Well, you fucking did! After everything she's been through, how could you do something like this!"
I step toward him.
"She is broken, Kai. She is shattered. And you just—"
"I know."
"—you just left her. Like she was nothing."
"She watched my son burn."
I freeze.
"What?"
"Kenta. He fell into the fireplace. He was screaming. Crying. Reaching for her."
He pauses.
"And she did not move. She did not help. She did not care."
I stare at him.
"That is not true."
"I know what I fucking saw, Theron." He says with a growl.
"You know she's broken. As her mate, we're supposed to understand her—"
"I'm more than just a mate now! I'm a father."
