Chapter 398 - KOW Chapter 396 Losing Every Last Bit of Face

The overall setting of the One-Punch Man world wasn't all that different from Earth.

Of course, it had some ridiculously advanced technology and a few miraculous cultivation systems.

On the surface, it basically looked like a fairly simple single-world setting.

In his previous life, Qin Yi had heard that this world also extended into outer space, but that wasn't particularly important. The One-Punch Man world didn't rank very highly when it came to overall power levels. The only real bug in the setting was Saitama himself.

His invincible strength was practically like exploiting a loophole in the universe's rules, he was basically playing with cheats enabled.

At this moment, the ten Arrancar were spread out around Qin Yi, occupying three tables, while he sat across from Ulquiorra.

"How does it taste, Lala?" Qin Yi asked with a smile.

"Master, I can't taste anything," Ulquiorra answered calmly.

"Oh, right. Sorry, sorry!" Qin Yi looked a little embarrassed. He'd forgotten that Ulquiorra was no longer human in the first place.

Before long, everyone finished their coffee. That was when Qin Yi suddenly realized they didn't have any money from this world.

So how were they supposed to pay?

Qin Yi raised a hand. "Waiter!"

A beautiful young waitress came over with a smile and bowed slightly toward him.

"One fried chicken leg and one hamburger for each person. And bring us one of every specialty set you've got here!"

Ulquiorra remained completely expressionless, while Grimmjow whistled from the side.

The smarter Arrancar had already figured out what Qin Yi was planning: they were going to eat and skip the bill.

Two hours passed in the blink of an eye.

"Sir, it's time to settle the bill. Will you be paying together or separately?" the beautiful waitress asked, standing beside Qin Yi.

Qin Yi blinked. "Huh? You have to pay for food here?"

The waitress's face immediately darkened.

"Haha, just kidding, just kidding. Don't take it seriously." Qin Yi stood up.

The moment he did, all the Arrancar stood as well. Their expressions instantly turned serious, and a faint killing intent flickered in their eyes.

"So, as payment for treating me and my subordinates to a meal…"

"I'll give you a chance to stay alive."

Qin Yi's casual words left the waitress stunned.

"What?"

Before she could ask anything else, the other customers in the café suddenly stood up in terror. Through the glass doors and windows, people could be seen running down the street in panic, screaming at the top of their lungs.

'BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!'

Deafening explosions accompanied violent tremors that shook the ground again and again, shattering large sections of glass.

"A monster! A monster is here!"

"Help! Oh God, this is terrifying!"

"Someone, please save us!"

Wave after wave of screams reached their ears, making the beautiful waitress tremble from head to toe.

Qin Yi looked through the glass, a faint smile appearing on his face. Outside, cracks were spreading across the street from the violent shaking of the ground.

A few seconds later, a gigantic figure came into view.

Its body alone stood over a thousand meters tall. Scales covered its entire frame, its head resembled that of a dinosaur, and every step it took was accompanied by a deafening roar. With every swing of its claws, another building collapsed.

"Grimmjow, take care of it," Qin Yi ordered.

Grimmjow grinned viciously and immediately leaped into action.

After a few steps, he shot out of the café. In full view of everyone, his body soared into the sky, and in the blink of an eye, he was right in front of the monster.

"Stay here. My subordinate will deal with that monster," Qin Yi reassured the terrified waitress before sitting back down.

The other Arrancar sat down as well.

Watching Grimmjow face the monster outside, Qin Yi crossed one leg over the other. The Arrancar followed his example, casually crossing their legs too.

Their identical movements and calm expressions somehow affected everyone inside the café, gradually settling the panic in the room.

Outside on the street, Grimmjow stood in midair, staring at the ugly monster before him with a grin. He was just about to speak when the monster opened its mouth first.

"You little ant, you're blocking my view."

Grimmjow froze. He hadn't expected the monster to be able to talk.

But he certainly didn't like what it had called him.

His expression instantly turned cold, and a blood-red light began flickering from the fingertips of his right hand.

"You've got some nerve calling me an ant, you big bastard! Die!"

The light at his fingertip burst forth, shooting out in a blood-red beam.

The monster roared and swung its enormous claws.

'BOOM!'

A tremendous explosion erupted. Towering flames twisted and surged into the sky, covering a huge area and bathing everything around them in a deep red glow.

Three or four seconds later, the resulting shockwave swept outward in every direction. Countless people frantically covered their eyes, their entire bodies trembling.

First a monster, and now a humanoid being who could unleash such a terrifying explosion. It was simply unbelievable.

When the shockwave finally dissipated and the flames vanished, the enormous monster was gone.

The sight left countless people staring wide-eyed in disbelief.

Grimmjow gave a cold smile as he descended from the sky. "So this is what passes for an expert in this world? They're way too weak."

A single Gran Rey Cero had ended the fight. There hadn't been even the slightest bit of fun in it for him.

Suddenly, a trembling voice rang out.

"Hero! Hero! Hero!"

At first, it was only a few people. But soon, more and more people realized what had happened. They raised their hands, clenched their fists, and shouted excitedly.

People began pouring out from their hiding places, gathering beneath Grimmjow. The atmosphere grew hotter and hotter until the entire street echoed with the word,

"Hero!"

Qin Yi, still sitting inside the café, was slightly stunned. He hadn't expected Grimmjow to be hailed as a hero after killing the monster.

He also noticed that the beautiful waitress beside him was staring out at Grimmjow with sparkling eyes.

Still, this wasn't a bad thing.

A flicker of amusement crossed Qin Yi's eyes, and a smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"Tell them, Grimmjow, that we're the Hero Union, heroes who protect the peace and safety of this world! Wherever there's a crisis, we'll be there to protect their lives!"

Grimmjow had landed and was standing coldly amid the surrounding crowd when he heard Qin Yi's voice transmitted directly to him.

He froze for a moment.

'What is this embarrassing chuunibyou nonsense?'

A hint of embarrassment appeared on Grimmjow's face. He really couldn't bring himself to say it.

But his master's orders had to be carried out.

Taking a deep breath, Grimmjow put on an utterly cold expression and spoke the words that made the crowd even more excited:

"We are the Hero Union! We will protect the peace of the world and keep you safe!"

After saying that, Grimmjow lowered his head.

'I've completely lost every last bit of face.'
