Chapter 29 - New Identity I

An enthusiastic smile appeared on the middle-aged engineer's face and he immediately responded, "Of course, no problem, what do you want to know?"

"I want to sell some items." Orion said

"Well then you have to go to the market." The middle-aged engineer laughed, looking at the gold coin in Orion's hand.

"I know but I am new here and not familiar with anything."

"Yes, a rookie." The middle-aged engineer shook his hand, his expression unchanged upon hearing Orion's words, still wearing that welcoming smile.

After all he could already tell with Orion's behaviour.

As an old timer, he had definitely seen many people like Orion visiting Norda Space Station for the first time.

The middle-aged engineer sized up Orion for a few seconds, suddenly laughed twice, and said: "Hey, follow me."

As soon as he finished speaking, he took the lead in heading towards the core area of the Space Station.

Orion had no objections and simply followed him; he glanced back as the younger engineer that followed along.

He stepped aside and let both engineers walk in front of him.

The older engineer glanced back and looked at Orion's hands, "Do you have a holo-comm link or a star watch?" He asked.

"No."

"Identifications?"

"No."

"I see. You came to just the right person." He said his face still wearing that same welcoming smile.

For the next few minutes, Orion followed the engineers to another part of the space station.

Although there weren't too many people around Orion kept his guards up and his hand on his favourite desert eagle with his HUD scanning for threats.

The engineers either didn't notice or noticed but simply didn't care as they quickly led Orion to a small house in front of one of the factory buildings.

From the outside, it looked like a hardware store, with various tools displayed within.

Upon entering, it was clear that the little house had excellent soundproofing.

The man sitting at the counter instantly perked up upon seeing the middle-aged engineer enter and asked, "Elijah? What brings you here?"

The middle-aged man, Elijah chuckled as he pointed at Orion, "This newcomer needs an Identity, put it on my tab."

The man looked at Elijah sceptically evidently familiar with him, "Are you sure?"

"Yes, just do it."

The man nodded, "If you say so," before turning to Orion and saying.

"Do you have a Holo-comm link or a star watch; if you don't have one, I can sell you a second hand comm link."

"I have one." Orion said as he dropped his backpack and reached into one of the pockets for a Star watch he had specifically set apart for this moment.

He handed the star watch to Elijah who was closest to him.

Orion saw him do a glance over and his eyes lit up for a second before the glint immediately vanished.

Elijah said nothing as he handed it to the man behind the counter.

"Hmm, a Silkveil Series-VII… Damn." The man commented before he took tools out of one of the drawers behind the counter and skilfully dismantled the star watch.

"Did you remove the data card?" He asked when he didn't find what he was looking for.

Orion didn't say a word as he simply stared at him; there was no way he would give a data card that contained the information of one of the mercenaries he grave robbed to someone.

The man didn't border questioning him. He simply took another device and pulled a data card from one of the shelves beside him.

He inputted the card into the device and immediately got to work.

"Name?"

"Orion Kord."

"Age?"

"23"

"DOB?"

"May 9"

"Place of birth?"

Orion stayed silent for that, and the man took the clue, "I have set this place as your place of birth."

He continued asking question which Orion occasionally answered with both truth and lies while other time he stayed silent and allowed the man to fill it himself.

"Finally take off you cloak and step into that platform for a hologram image."

Orion nodded and the men saw his full face for the first time; he ignored their shock and followed the man's instruction.

Once everything was done the man handed the Star watch back to Orion and said, "Give it a try."

Orion turned on the Star watch and swiped through making sure all the functions were working perfectly.

The personal file displayed Orion's personal information with the avatar displaying his image.

Orion nodded, "Does it work and is there anything I should know?"

"The information should work in majority of places as long as a deep background check is not done."

"Just make sure not to do something incredibly stupid or try to join a major power with it."

"Don't believe it? Go ask around; many people got their ID's here in this Space Station."

Orion nodded, he paused for a moment thinking before finally asking, "Can you hack credit storage device?"

The shop went silent before the man said. "Just cred chips any other thing I can't, and I will advise you not to."

"I am the best hacker and forger in the entire Norda Space station. If someone tells you, they could do better please prepare to be caught."

Orion nodded again, "Can I see the item you use to hack them?"

The man stared at Orion for a few seconds in silence before finally pulling out a circular device.

"Here… don't drop it."

Orion collected it and inspected it.

It was a slim spike-like module, about the length of a finger, without wasting time he immediately scanned it.

{Scanning Armament}

{Analysing structures...}

{Scan Complete}

{6TH Armament recorded: Chip Cracker}

Orion smiled, happy it worked.

He handed the Chip Cracker back to the man before looking at Elijah.

"What do you want?" He asked.

"What?" Elijah asked feigning confusion.

"I never asked you to pay for me." Orion pressed.

"Indeed, but having one more friend is a good thing, is it not?" Elijah explained but he could see Orion wasn't having any of it so he continued, "Can I have your contact ID?"

Orion took a few seconds to think before replying, "Very well."

He gave them his contact info, grabbed his backpack and left the hardware store.
