Chapter 343 - Wider Gap

Since she wasn't familiar with the Kakin Empire's future plans, this news caught her off guard.

So, Larry explained the situation in more detail.

"I see," she said thoughtfully. "But you just became president. If you're going to the Dark Continent, do you have to resign from that position?"

Though she understood the basics, she wasn't sure how Larry planned to handle it.

"Well, honestly, I never planned on being president in the first place. It just kind of happened without me realizing it," Larry admitted with a small sigh.

Plans rarely keep up with how things actually turn out.

"My plan now is to hold onto the position for the time being. Once Pariston leaves, Cheadle will most likely step up as vice president."

"With Mizaistom's help, managing the association's affairs should be doable," Larry added confidently. "And if something urgent comes up, I can always come back from the Dark Continent quickly."

After thinking it over, Larry decided it made sense to accept the presidency for now.

If it didn't work out, he could always find a reason to step down later.

"That sounds like a solid plan," Pyon said with a serious expression, though her cute face made it all the more endearing.

"Honestly, without you, no one's sure the next president would have been elected. So it's definitely better if you don't resign."

Larry knew that what Pyon said was true. It's really tough to meet the voting rules set in the original system.

Not only did the voter turnout have to be at least 95%, but the candidate in first place also needed to secure more than half of the votes.

After several rounds of voting, no candidate fully met these criteria.

If it weren't for a stroke of luck, it's likely that no new president would have been chosen in the end.

Thanks to the full efforts of the Hunter Association, the news of the 13th Hunter Association President spread quickly across all six continents.

Larry's reputation soared once again.

Although he had been promoted many times before, this announcement surprised countless people, because Larry had become the 13th Hunter Association President!

Until now, most people knew Larry as "the strongest fighter in the Sky Arena" or "the world's strongest," but now he carried a new title: "Hunter Association President."

Reactions to this news varied.

Some were confused, many were loyal fans of Pariston or other hunters, while others, especially notorious criminals across the six continents, felt uneasy.

But the majority were happy and respectful, those who had long hoped to see this moment come true.

Since Larry's debut in the Sky Arena, he had gathered a huge fanbase, and all of them cheered wildly for his election as president.

This excitement reignited the demand for Sky Arena merchandise, and people rushed to buy Larry-related items.

After the last martial arts competition, the Sky Arena officials had learned their lesson.

Instead of only selling merchandise during competitions, they set up special counters to sell Larry's items all year round.

This strategy proved to be a smart move, as they successfully capitalized on Larry's rising popularity thanks to his new role in the Hunter Association.

Some fans even started planning to compile Larry's achievements and remarkable experiences since his rise to fame into a book, hoping to share his story with others and help more people understand the true extent of his power.

The momentum behind this is even stronger than when Netero was elected president.

After crushing the enemy's Hakka family, we find ourselves in a small, dimly lit room.

The only source of light is a TV screen casting a faint glow on Maha's face, making him look almost ghostly.

"Haha, the new president," Maha chuckled hoarsely, his voice rough as if he'd been drinking something very strong. "Has that old man finally stepped down? I thought he'd be president for another hundred years."

Maha had always believed Netero would block any new president until his last breath.

Thankfully, he lived long enough to see the next leader emerge.

"Larry is the perfect choice for president," Maha said, staring at Larry's photo on the screen, a nostalgic look in his cloudy eyes.

He had never forgotten their battle that day.

That fight made it clear Larry was no ordinary man.

It was unfortunate, though, that Larry couldn't defeat two previous Hunter Association presidents.

Netero was stronger, and Larry simply couldn't beat him.

Meanwhile, on Meteor Street, the busiest part of town, a group of people in unusual clothes stood outside a shop with a glass wall.

Inside, a TV was playing.

"Captain, this is the person..." Nobu pulled back his bangs, looking at the TV image, and spoke to Chrollo beside him.

Though Nobu left much unsaid, both Chrollo and Pakunoda understood his meaning.

"The new president of the Hunter Association... no wonder, with that kind of strength," Chrollo murmured, his deep eyes fixed on Larry's image.

Still, he felt powerless.

The gap between them and Larry was just too wide.

After the Phantom Troupe lost more than half its members, Chrollo had returned to Meteor Street to find new allies, but after searching for so long, he could barely find one decent partner.

Filling the missing spots was even harder.

Revenge burned deep inside Chrollo, yet they kept hiding here and there, afraid to make any move that might attract Larry's attention.

Letting out a soft sigh, Chrollo turned and walked away, with Nobu and Pakunoda quickly following behind him.

The news about Larry becoming the new president was spreading rapidly, but he himself seemed completely unaffected, like standing in the eye of a storm, calm and untouched.

At that moment, he was following Beyond to the team's base camp, ready to see these so-called "cheap men" with his own eyes.

The base camp was a typical Japanese-style courtyard, with an open area in the middle of the house.

In the center, there was a small pond and a bamboo water feature known as a "frightened deer," commonly found in Japanese gardens.

This bamboo guides water flow into the pond, and when it reaches a certain level, the water spills over the bamboo onto rocks, creating a soothing sound.

Suddenly, a little girl who looked almost like a puppet inside the room turned her head sharply toward the entrance, her expression unusually serious.

She was the strongest fighter on the team aside from Beyond, so strong, in fact, that even Pariston couldn't match her.

Naturally, she was the first to sense the aura of someone arriving.

Meanwhile, Pariston, calmly sipping his tea, glanced at the girl with growing interest.

Though his physical strength was somewhat lacking and he hadn't sensed anything yet, he was smart.

Since Gel was stronger and had reacted, it meant she had picked up on an aura beyond Pariston's detection.

He thought it over carefully.

Beyond had called him here to publicly announce the new captain, so whoever it was must be a top-tier fighter.

People like that were rare.
