Jin woke to a sound he hadn't heard in what felt like a long time.
A chime, clean and unhurried, settling into the edge of his awareness the way ordinary notifications used to before every single one of them had started meaning danger. He lay still a moment, blinking up at the ceiling, letting his body slowly remember that it was allowed to wake up gently for once. Sunlight fell warm and full across the blanket, no dust hanging in it this time, no smoke haze dulling the color of it down to something grey and uncertain. Just ordinary morning light, the kind he hadn't actually trusted in weeks.
He pulled up the system, and the first thing waiting for him wasn't a personal notification at all.
It was addressed to everyone.
