Do-yun tied off the last strip of cloth around Jin's hand and sat back on his heels.
"That's the best I can do without a first aid kit," he said. "Try not to punch anything with it."
Jin looked down at the makeshift bandage. It was a sleeve torn off Do-yun's jacket, wrapped tight around his palm, already spotted dark red in the middle where the hole was. It throbbed with every heartbeat. So did pretty much everything else. His ribs, his back, his legs, even his teeth ached, like he'd been hit by a truck and then run over again for good measure.
"Thanks," he said. "Really."
"Don't thank me yet. You still look like a horror movie."
Jin leaned his head back against the glass. He'd been awake for maybe ten minutes, and he still couldn't remember anything after the red blade rising over him. There was the dirt against his cheek, the dark closing in, and then Areum's voice, and then pain. Everything in between was a hole.
"Tell me again," he said quietly. "What I did."
