Nobody answered Ryu right away.
The dust from the broken wall was still drifting down through the lamplight, settling on the scattered files and the toppled cabinet. Ryu stood in the middle of it all, breathing hard, his grin slowly fading as he looked from Jin to the woman in the armchair and back again.
Then Yerin stood up.
She did it slowly, one hand on the arm of the chair, like her body had forgotten how. She smoothed down the front of her cardigan. She pushed a loose strand of white hair back behind her ear. And then she stepped forward, into the middle of the office, and bowed.
It wasn't a small bow. She bent all the way at the waist, her hands at her sides, her head lowered almost to the level of her knees, and she held it there.
"I surrender," she said.
Ryu blinked.
He looked at her bent back. Then at Jin. Then at her again.
"What?" he said.
