Jin found Hyunwoo Kim first.
He was on the training ground with Mina, and from the look of it, he was losing. Mina's skin had already turned to grey stone from her neck down to her fingertips, and every time Hyunwoo swung at her, his fist bounced off her shoulder with a dull thud. He shook his hand out and stepped back, frowning.
Then he stopped swinging.
He stood still and watched her. Not her fists, not her feet, but her skin, the way the stone spread across it and settled. Mina waited, rolling her stone shoulders, and a few civilians who had been doing stance drills nearby drifted closer to watch.
Hyunwoo's arm went grey.
It started at his knuckles and crawled up to his elbow, rough and cracked like old pavement. He looked down at it, flexed his fingers once, then stepped in and threw a punch.
This time, when stone hit stone, Mina actually slid back half a step.
"Hey!" she said. "That's mine."
"For about two more minutes," Hyunwoo said calmly. "Then you can have it back."
