They ate at the stall until there was nothing left.
Ho-seok had ordered enough for six people, and between the two of them, they finished all of it. Skewers of pork glazed in something sticky and sweet. Fish cakes on long sticks. A whole plate of dumplings that Ho-seok swore were nowhere near as good as the ones back at headquarters, which he then ate every single one of. The old woman running the stall kept bringing more, and Ho-seok kept thanking her in a polite, quiet voice from behind his plain mask, and she never once looked at him like he was anyone special.
By the time they stood up, Ho-seok looked like a different person. His shoulders had loosened. He was walking lighter. He stretched both arms over his head as they stepped back into the street and let out a long, happy sigh.
"Better," he said. "So much better. I was about to fall over up there."
"You hid it well," Jin said.
