Chapter 76 - Manufactured Chaos

It was an abandoned textile warehouse near the Hudson waterfront.

The large brick building stood alone and quiet under the moon. Faint light from the harbor and city slipped through its broken windows and the spaces between warped wooden boards.

Inside, the main floor was wide and open under a high ceiling held up by thick, rusty steel pillars. The cracked concrete was stained with oil, chemicals, and years of grime, leaving slick spots in the darkness.

Tall stacks of rotting wooden pallets and old metal shipping containers were scattered around the warehouse, mostly near the center. A rusted forklift sat unused in one corner. Along the southern wall, a raised mezzanine looked out over the floor through a grated metal railing and staircase.

A few emergency fluorescent lights, set up by the Maggia and run by loud generators, threw harsh, flickering light across the warehouse. The outer edges stayed lost in shadow.

The air was thick with damp mildew, salt from nearby water, and the cold, metallic smell of rust that clung to the skin.

The three black SUVs rolled up to the warehouse's side entrance just after midnight, tires crunching over gravel and broken glass.

Members of Tombstone's 110th Street Gang spilled out in loose clusters. Fourteen gangsters in total—eleven men and three women. They wore dark hoodies beneath plain jackets and sturdy boots, moving with the easy confidence of crews who'd done this before.

"Yo, this place creepy as hell," one of the gangsters muttered quietly.

Two men led them.

The first was Darnell "Big D" Graves, a broad-shouldered man in his late thirties with a neat beard and calm, sharp eyes. He was one of Tombstone's trusted lieutenants and carried himself with the quiet confidence of someone used to giving orders.

The other was Carl Ramsey, lean and sharp-eyed, the faded scar along his jaw tightening as he scanned the surroundings. An NYPD Detective on Tombstone's payroll, he moved with the wary alertness of someone who trusted nobody completely.

Both carried weight within the gang, and the others fell in behind them without much talk.

Inside, the Maggia were already waiting beneath the flickering lights near the center of the warehouse floor. Fifteen men stood there, most wearing dark overcoats and leather jackets.

Their leaders stood slightly ahead of the others: Vito Moretti, stocky and in his mid-forties with salt-and-pepper hair and the steady composure of a man used to command, and Marco Rossi, younger and sharper-featured, his restless hands never quite still.

Big D and Carl walked toward the center of the warehouse floor. A few of the gangsters followed behind them. The rest spread out loosely near the pallet stacks, some leaning against the walls while others stood watch over the warehouse.

The Italians watched closely but held their ground. Only a battered wooden table stood between the two groups.

"Nice and early." Big D smiled. "Respectful. I like that in a partner."

Vito offered a small nod. He pulled the cigar from his mouth and spoke in a thick Italian accent. "Mr. Lincoln values punctuality. So do we. Cleaner that way. Less room for mistakes."

Carl scanned the mezzanine shadows once before locking eyes with Marco. "Long as everybody stays clean tonight, we all leave richer. That's the understanding, right?"

Marco gave a tight smile, his sharp tone cutting through the damp air. "That's the only understanding tonight. No surprises."

A heavy silence settled over the warehouse for a moment as both sides sized each other up across the flickering pools of light. Weapons stayed holstered, but the tension hung thick between the central pallet stacks and the wooden table dragged into the lit area for the exchange. One of Tombstone's guys muttered something low to another, earning a sharp glance from Carl that shut the conversation down immediately.

Big D stepped forward. "You got the cash?"

Vito casually gestured to two of his men. They carried heavy black duffel bags forward and set them on the table. They unzipped the bags, revealing neat stacks of banded hundred-dollar bills.

"Three hundred and fifty thousand," Vito said evenly. "As agreed. Count it if you need to. We got time tonight."

Big D gave a small nod. One of his men stepped forward and began checking the bundles beneath the harsh overhead lights, pulling random stacks from both bags with practiced hands. Another gangster produced a portable money counter from his jacket.

The machine's quiet mechanical hum filled the warehouse as both sides watched each other across the table in wary silence.

"Your product better match what was promised," Vito said casually, though the threat beneath the words was unmistakable. "Our clients don't forget when things fall short. Too many masks running around the city these days for sloppy business."

Big D kept a steady look. "Tombstone doesn't move garbage. This batch is straight from the source, eighty-four percent pure. You'll flip it clean and come back for more."

Meanwhile, the two gangsters verified the bundles, checking bills from several random stacks before finally looking up.

"It's all here, D. Solid."

At the signal, two more gangsters brought forward a large hard-sided case and a smaller duffel bag. One nearly tripped over a crack in the concrete before catching himself with a muttered curse.

They placed the bags opposite the cash. The case opened to reveal tightly vacuum-sealed bricks of cocaine. The smaller bag held test samples and scales.

Marco stepped forward first. He opened one of the sample packets, rubbing a small pinch of powder between his fingers before dabbing it against his gums.

Beside him, another Maggia man unpacked a portable field-testing kit beneath the flickering fluorescent lights. A few drops of reagent hissed onto a separate sample tray.

Everyone waited in silence.

They repeated the tests with a sample taken from one of the sealed bricks.

"It checks out," Marco confirmed. "We'll test the rest later, but this passes."

Vito gave a slight, satisfied smile. "Then we have a deal."

Big D extended his hand across the table. Vito met it with a firm grip as the flickering lights cast long shadows across the concrete floor behind them.

"Tell Mr. Lincoln the Maggia appreciates reliable partners," Vito said.

"And you tell yours the same," Big D replied. "This can be regular business. Long as everybody keeps their word when things get messy."

The handshake had barely broken when a suppressed shot snapped through the warehouse.

It came from high above—somewhere near the mezzanine or the broken upper windows.

The bullet slammed into the back of a Maggia soldier standing near the rear of their group by the loading docks. He convulsed with a choking gasp, blood spraying across the cracked concrete before he collapsed hard to the floor.

Instant chaos.

Tombstone's crew reacted fast but messily—hands diving beneath jackets as pistols and a couple of SMGs came out while men scrambled for cover. Some slid behind pallet stacks while others pressed against steel pillars or dropped low beside the rusted forklift. Shouts and curses filled the warehouse.

Carl spun with his Glock already raised, his expression tight with controlled anger. "The fuck was that?! You Italians come here playing games?"

Vito's face twisted in fury as he drew his own pistol, keeping it trained across the table toward Big D. His men scattered toward the walls and the staircase leading to the mezzanine.

"Don't play us for fools," Vito snapped. "That shot came from your side. You set this up?"

Big D kept his voice low, his gun aimed at Vito. "We didn't bring nobody else. Look around—you see any of our people up there? That shot came from your side of the building."

Marco Rossi was already waving a couple of his men toward better positions along the north wall while keeping his pistol trained on Carl, his tone sharp and fast. "Bullshit. Street crews always pull this—take the money, thin us out. Should've known better than to trust you people."

The tension stretched tight enough to snap. Both groups had spread into scattered defensive positions across the warehouse floor.

Before anyone could de-escalate, another suppressed shot snapped from the darkness above.

This one caught another Maggia soldier in the chest. He staggered back against a shipping container along the wall and slid down, leaving a dark smear across the metal.

That was the breaking point.

"Ambush!" Vito roared with raw fury. "They're picking us off while the product's sitting here! Light these bastards up!"

At that exact moment, something unnatural happened near the rear of the Maggia group.

One of the men hiding behind a container suddenly went rigid. His skin darkened into a purple hue while his eyes glazed over with a distant, empty stare. Hidden behind the others, the change went unnoticed.

His pistol rose with eerie steadiness. Then it barked loudly through the warehouse. The violet discoloration vanished almost immediately afterward.

The bullet tore through the side of Big D's head. His eyes widened for the briefest instant before he collapsed beside the table, blood pooling rapidly beneath him.

"D!" Carl screamed, voice breaking with rage and shock. "You motherfucker!"

The warehouse exploded into full war.

— Kevin —

I arrived at the warehouse half an hour before the deal. I'd parked my car a few blocks away to avoid drawing suspicion before Jessica, Kara, and I approached the building on foot.

I climbed the outer wall, slipped through a broken upper window, and settled into a dark corner overlooking the warehouse floor. Kara and Jessica weren't nearly as stealthy as I was, so they hid nearby among the maze of stacked shipping containers outside the warehouse.

Soon, a black luxury sedan and two black SUVs rolled up beside the warehouse.

The two men who stepped out of the sedan's backseat carried themselves with calm confidence as they smoked cigars.

A few of the Maggia men switched on the few working lights and brought in emergency fluorescent lamps to illuminate the rest of the floor. The rest of the Maggia crew pulled a wooden table into the center of the warehouse and shoved aside a few pallets and containers to clear space.

Once everything was in place, they settled into position behind their leaders, speaking only in low murmurs. Occasionally, a few exchanged quiet words, but nobody spoke above a whisper.

As the warehouse settled into tense silence and the Maggia waited for the 110th Street crew to arrive, I passed the time reviewing the changes in my updated status.

I skimmed through the recent changes in my status.

I'd finally completed the Delivery Side Mission, raising my Endurance to E1.

I had also gained a grasp of my second school of magic—Eromancy—and reached the Novice stage, earning the title of Novice Eromancy Mage. The title's reward increased my Charisma to E3. Reaching the Novice stage in a second school of magic also completed the Mage Side Mission, raising both my Intelligence and Wisdom to E1.

I'd also trained the Azure Dragon Sundering Cloud Sword Art that the old man had given me to the Novice stage.

On top of that, I had learned three additional Rokushiki techniques—Tekkei, Soru, and Kami-e—bringing all three to the Novice stage.

Under normal circumstances, there was no way I should've progressed that quickly while juggling so many other skills and magic disciplines.

But I had cheated a little.

As a gamer, cheating is my birthright.

I'd used the three mortal-grade Enlightenment Tea leaves I obtained after the fight with Sandman. Each leaf dragged me into an eight-hour trance-like state that massively accelerated my comprehension. Tekkai, Soru, and Kami-e had all reached the Novice stage because of it.

Honestly, using treasures that valuable this early was probably reckless.

But in a world like Marvel, the power you saved for later could easily become the power you never got the chance to use at all.

A few minutes later, three more black SUVs rolled up on the opposite side of the warehouse. My eyes immediately locked onto the two men I cared about.

Once everyone was inside, I sent Kara and Jessica a quick update.

From my hiding spot above, I watched both groups gather around the table as the deal proceeded smoothly. Money changed hands. The cocaine was tested. Tension slowly eased as both sides began to believe they'd walk away richer tonight.

That was when I decided to move.

I retrieved a pistol from my inventory. I'd taken it off one of Tombstone's dead gangsters a week earlier.

I steadied my aim on one of the Maggia men near the rear and squeezed the trigger.

The man dropped instantly, and chaos rippled through the warehouse floor. Suspicion flared between both groups, but neither side had fully snapped yet.

So I fired again before the confusion could settle.

The second Maggia soldier collapsed hard against a shipping container. That was enough. Vito looked seconds away from opening fire.

But the Maggia had already lost two men. If the shooting started now, Tombstone's crew would probably overwhelm them too quickly. I needed to tilt things back into balance.

Kara and Jessica were already in position outside. I sent Kara a quick message.

A second later, one of the Maggia men near the rear suddenly went rigid. His skin darkened into a purple hue as his pistol rose with eerie steadiness.

The shot tore through Darnell's skull.

The discoloration vanished almost immediately afterward.

"D!" Carl screamed from below.

Then the warehouse exploded into full war.

Gunshots boomed and echoed off the steel pillars. Muzzle flashes lit up the dark like camera bulbs.

As both groups traded gunfire, the difference in training became obvious. Most of the 110th Street crew fired wildly from cover, panic creeping into their shots whenever bullets cracked too close. The Maggia moved differently—short bursts, controlled angles, cleaner positioning. Carl was the only real exception on Tombstone's side because of his police training.

A gangster caught a burst to the chest and slammed against the wall before collapsing to the floor. Carl moved aggressively between cover, dropping two Maggia gunmen near the mezzanine stairs.

"Keep shooting!" Vito shouted from behind a large shipping container. "Get the money if you can, but don't let them breathe!"

Marco leaned out from the staircase and fired down toward Carl's position. "You street niggas always pull this shit!"

Carl reloaded on the move, sliding behind another steel pillar. "Fuck you! Your man pulled the trigger first!"

A bullet slammed into Carl's chest. The impact staggered him, but he still made it behind cover. Body armor. Vincent had been right.

Marco dropped another gangster with frightening precision. Unlike the others, he shot with the same cold efficiency Carl did. Despite losing men early, the Maggia's superior discipline was slowly turning the fight in their favor.

I lined up Marco's head the moment he leaned out from the staircase again and squeezed the trigger.

"Madonna… Marco!" Vito screamed.

He dropped a female gangster while rushing from cover toward Marco's body.

By the time the shooting degraded into short, exhausted bursts, only a handful of gunmen were still standing.

I finally dropped down onto the warehouse floor.

Only Vito and one surviving Maggia gunman were still standing. On the gang's side, only Carl, another man, and a wounded woman remained alive.

Nobody noticed me moving through the warehouse as the exhausted firefight dragged on in scattered bursts.

After a few more steps, I spotted Kara near the loading door. I gave her a small nod. She returned it immediately.

The surviving Maggia gunman suddenly stiffened as a purple hue spread across his skin. His eyes glazed over. Without hesitation, he tossed me his pistol. The discoloration vanished immediately after that. I caught the gun cleanly in my left hand.

A female gangster exposed herself for a split second from behind the pallet stacks. I shot her through the head with the Maggia pistol the instant it hit my hand.

Vito stared at his subordinate in disbelief. "What the fuck are you doing, Joey?!"

"I-I don't know!" Joey stammered in panic. "I don't know why I did that!"

Vito still hadn't noticed me. His attention snapped toward Kara near the loading door.

"Bitch, you're the one fucking with us?!"

He fired instantly.

Jessica threw herself in front of Kara. The bullet slammed into her as she crashed onto the floor beside her.

"Jessica?!" Kara screamed and ran to her.

Vito had fully exposed himself.

I fired. The bullet tore through his skull, spraying blood and brain matter across the shipping container behind him.

I pivoted smoothly, firing both pistols almost simultaneously.

Joey collapsed first. A fraction of a second later, the last surviving gangster other than Carl dropped beside a steel pillar.

Then silence finally swallowed the building.

My Danger Sense flared.

I rolled right and dove behind a steel pillar as Carl snatched up an SMG from one of the dead gangsters and opened fire. He didn't stop shooting until the weapon finally clicked empty, bullets hammering against the pillar the entire time.

"Are you the one who ambushed us?" Carl asked, trying hard to sound calm.

I didn't answer.

Jessica was clutching her arm near the loading door, but I couldn't see any blood. Kara nodded toward me reassuringly. I nodded back.

Carl continued, "Are you the one fucking with Tombstone's men these past few weeks?"

I leaned out from cover and fired toward Carl, but he had already ducked behind another steel pillar.

The instant I pulled back, he blindly returned fire toward my position.

"What do you want?" Carl asked again, despite his trying to sound calm; I could hear the desperation in his voice. "You don't look like a vigilante. Those masked freaks don't kill."

After a brief pause, he continued. "You want money? I'll give you every dollar I got stashed away if you let me walk out of here."

I ignored him and checked the pistol in my left hand. The magazine was empty, and one last round remained in the chamber.

I had to make it count.

I leaned out from behind the pillar and swung my arm wide. Then I twisted my wrist sharply.

The bullet curved unnaturally through the warehouse, arcing around Carl's cover before slamming into him.

Carl collapsed hard beside the pillar.

I approached carefully and confirmed the kill.

Once the warehouse finally fell silent, I walked toward Kara and Jessica. As I crossed the floor, I casually dropped Joey's pistol beside his corpse.

I crouched beside the girls. "Are you alright?" I asked quietly.

Jessica smiled faintly. "Yeah. Just a bruise."

She pulled her hand away from her arm to show me. Only a faint bruise had formed on her upper arm. Even though the bullet was small-caliber, it hadn't even broken her skin.

"Jessica…" Kara said softly, emotion thick in her voice. "You didn't have to put yourself in danger like that."

Jessica reached over and gently squeezed Kara's hand, her smile calm and reassuring.

"Maybe not," she said quietly. "But I wanted to. You're not just my friend anymore, Kara. You're family."

Kara stared at her silently for a moment before suddenly pulling Jessica into a tight hug.

I stepped back slightly and watched them with a small smile.

Internally, though, I felt a quiet satisfaction watching the two of them grow closer exactly as I'd hoped.

Kara gave Jessica temporary relief from Zebediah's influence, while Jessica gave Kara the validation and emotional support she desperately craved. Together, they stabilized each other in ways neither had yet fully realized and, in turn, reinforced each other's corruption.

"I'm really happy you two found each other," I said honestly as I watched them.

Kara and Jessica slowly pulled apart from the hug, both still wearing soft smiles. Kara looked at me first, warmth filling her eyes.

"It's all thanks to you, Kevin," she said. "You're the one who introduced us."

Jessica nodded in agreement. "Seriously. Thank you. I don't think we would've ever met without you."

"So," I said with a faint grin, "how exactly are you planning to thank me?"

Both girls flushed faintly. Kara glanced briefly toward Jessica before looking back at me.

Before either could answer, I reached out and gently pulled Kara closer, kissing her softly. Her hand rested against my chest as she returned the kiss just as warmly.

When we finally pulled apart, her eyes were shining.

I turned toward Jessica next. She watched quietly, lips slightly parted, before I drew her close and kissed her too. Her kiss was softer at first, but she quickly relaxed into it.

We separated a few moments later.

I stood and offered each of them a hand.

"Come on," I said. "Our job here is done."

As soon as we entered Kara's apartment, the tension that had been building finally reached a breaking point. The door clicked shut behind us, and the air thickened with anticipation.

[R-18 Start]

Kara immediately pushed me against the wall and crushed her lips against mine. My hands slid down her body and claimed her ass, squeezing the firm flesh hard enough to make her gasp into my mouth. She responded by grinding against me, rolling her hips against my erect cock trapped in my jeans.

From the corner of my eye, I caught Jessica watching us. One hand palmed her breast through her blouse, pinching the stiff peak of her nipple, while the other had disappeared beneath the waistband of her pants. Her lips were parted, breath shallow.

I spun Kara around, pinning her to the wall instead. My mouth left hers to trail hot, open kisses down the side of her neck. She tilted her head back with a throaty moan. "Kevin… yes."

Jessica stepped in behind me, pressing her body flush against my back. Her hard nipples dragged across my skin through her thin top, and her hands explored my chest and stomach with urgent need.

Kara's eyes met Jessica's over my shoulder, a wicked, knowing smile curving her lips. Then she grabbed the back of my head and pulled me into another hungry kiss.

We stumbled toward the bedroom as one tangled unit, shedding clothes in a frantic trail behind us. By the time we reached the bed, I was wearing only my boxers. The women peeled their panties down together, watching me with teasing, heavy-lidded eyes.

Kara sank to her knees first, graceful and confident. She dragged my boxers down my thighs, and my cock sprang free, thick and aching, slapping against her cheek. She let out a low, appreciative sound and dragged her tongue slowly across the swollen head, tasting the bead of precum already leaking there.

I looked at Jessica, who wasn't as bold as Kara. Kara got up and pulled Jessica along. They knelt together. With a gentle but firm hand in Jessica's long, dark hair, Kara guided her forward. "Taste him," Kara whispered, her voice husky.

Jessica's lips parted obediently. Kara applied steady pressure until my cock slid into the wet heat of Jessica's mouth, stretching her lips wide. The sensation was exquisite, tight, and warm. Kara kept her hand tangled in Jessica's hair, controlling the rhythm, bobbing her head deeper with each stroke while never breaking eye contact with me. The sight of Kara's wicked smile and Jessica's watering eyes as she struggled to take me sent heat roaring through my veins.

When I finally came, it was sudden and intense. I groaned, gripping Kara's shoulder as I spilled deep into Jessica's throat, some escaping the corners of her lips.

I sat on the edge of the bed and looked at the kneeling women. "Share some with Kara," I ordered with a rough voice.

Jessica blinked, slightly dazed, but Kara didn't hesitate. She leaned in and licked the stray drops from Jessica's chin, then pulled her into a deep, filthy kiss. I watched their tongues slide together, passing my cum back and forth in slow, glistening strings. The obscene intimacy of it made my spent cock twitch and begin to harden again almost immediately.

They finally broke apart, both opening their mouths to show me they had swallowed everything, eyes gleaming with mischief.

I got up, pulled both girls to their feet, and then threw them onto the bed. Both girls giggled despite the rough treatment.

I came up to the bed and positioned myself at Jessica's entrance first. She was soaked, her pussy flushed and glistening. Her eyes met mine, wide with need, and she nodded. I pushed in slowly, savoring every tight inch as her walls clenched around me.

Kara straddled Jessica's face, lowering her dripping pussy onto the other woman's eager mouth. At the same time, Kara leaned forward and began licking where our bodies joined—tongue swirling around Jessica's swollen clit and the base of my cock as I started thrusting.

Jessica's muffled cries vibrated against Kara's cunt with every deep stroke. The room filled with wet sounds, gasps, and moans. Kara playfully nipped at Jessica's clit, drawing a sharp, ecstatic scream that was smothered between Kara's thighs. Kara shuddered, grinding harder against Jessica's face.

I fucked Jessica with long, powerful strokes, feeling her tighten around me until she came hard, her body arching. The sight and sensation pushed me over the edge again. I buried myself deep and filled her with pulse after pulse of cum.

I didn't give them time to recover. I pulled out, flipped Kara onto all fours, and drove into her from behind while she buried her face between Jessica's spread thighs, hungrily licking up the creamy mess leaking from her friend's well-fucked pussy.

Kara was tighter, hotter, and wilder. She pushed back against me with every thrust, moaning into Jessica's cunt. When her orgasm hit, it was violent—her whole body shaking, inner walls milking me relentlessly. I gripped her hips hard and fucked her through it until I came again, flooding her depths.

We collapsed together in a sweaty, trembling pile. Jessica looked up at me with dark, needy eyes, biting her lower lip.

I smiled, running a hand along her thigh.

The night had just started.

[R-18 End]

I lay on the bed as Kara and Jessica slept on either side of me. In the last month, I had been intimate with them a few times each, but today was the first time we had done so together.

I opened my system interface to check the latest notifications I had received. I got them while I was still fucking the girls, so I had dismissed them at that time.
