Chapter 653 - Chapter 653: The Hierarchy System of Prometheus Fortress

Whether Yang Hui had held back or if Graham had fought him to a draw single-handedly didn't matter!

What mattered was that through this opportunity, they had all fought to their hearts' content and witnessed each other's progress. At the same time, it allowed both the veterans and the newcomers to understand exactly how powerful the top-tier experts of Prometheus Fortress currently were. That was enough.

Note the word "currently." No one knew who would join the fortress in the future, and Yang Hui and the others were all progressing and working hard to improve themselves.

Therefore... the primary goal had not only been achieved but exceeded. Everyone felt a surge of motivation, a relentless drive to push themselves. If those at the top were working so hard, what right did they have to slack off?

The newcomers were especially stunned. The final primal duel, in particular, left combat enthusiasts like Torey and Carlos with their blood boiling.

"Graham Aker..." Torey muttered Graham's name. He felt he had found a goal to chase. Compared to Yang Hui's flamboyant combat style and his use of various Controlled Autonomous Combat Units, Torey wasn't as moved; instead, he was captivated by Graham's fanatical fighting style and close-quarters combat.

Meanwhile, Yuwen Feigong went straight to talk to Tieria. Both were heavy fire specialists, and it was likely they would have much to discuss... probably.

Wolfgang sought advice from Flit and Jehart. He valued not just individual strength, but also command and strategic vision.

It wasn't just those few; the newcomers one after another found targets to pursue and hoped for guidance. The one with the greatest reputation, however, was Yurin.

Yurin's performance in the battle royale, aside from her initial Scatter Shot and refraction sniping, hadn't been overly flashy. Even when ambushing Yang Hui, she had fired only a handful of times.

But while the laymen watched the spectacle, the experts looked at the technique. Except for a few members of Tekkadan who were still D-rank beginners, everyone present could see how terrifying Yurin's sniping ability was. Her angles were tricky, her timing was perfect, and she was lethal while simultaneously suppressing the enemy.

Doing these things separately wasn't hard, but integrating them all—especially in such an intense battle—was terrifying.

"Miss Yurin, could you please teach me?" The first to run over was Christina Mackenzie, formerly of the Twelfth Independent Technical Division. She wasn't a sniper but a heavy fire specialist; however, she also required precise judgment, especially since heavy fire support must never harm allies.

"Let's discuss and learn from each other, Miss Mackenzie. I've seen your files; you're a heavy fire specialist. I'd also like to discuss fire support with you."

"Mhm, no problem!"

"Miss Yurin, do you have any insights on close combat?" Carmen asked seriously.

"I'm sorry, Miss Carmen, but I'm not skilled in close combat. I've seen your files as well; your most suitable teacher should be Graham."

"Miss Yurin..."

Regardless of whether they were snipers, all the female pilots gathered around Yurin. Whether they could be her students or not, they all wanted to build a good relationship with her. Firstly, she was one of Yang Hui's lovers; secondly, Yurin's strength was indeed formidable; and thirdly, Yurin's gentle personality made it easy to gain others' favor.

The others naturally had people looking for them as well. In their free time, no one minded giving a few pointers. Unfortunately, Yang Hui, Creuset, Flit, and Jehart were not just MS pilots; they had other matters to attend to and couldn't provide guidance all the time.

Even Graham, Asemu, Yurin, and the others were the same. What they could do was provide individual guidance in their spare time, teaching according to a set process. At other times, they also needed to rest and improve themselves.

"Arrange your own schedules for now. Graham, I'm leaving the newcomers to you. Integrate them into the team quickly and then start coordinated training with the others."

"Don't worry, leave it to me."

"Asemu, Yurin, Woolf, Lyle, Tieria... while you're helping Graham, keep an eye out and record data on adaptability, coordination, and team awareness. Newcomers from three worlds will arrive next week. At that time, we'll need to reorganize the squads, and the military rank system will be implemented."

Taking advantage of this Legion War Mode, the hierarchy system that had been under discussion for a long time was finally going to be put into effect. This mainly concerned the military rank system for all personnel and candidates who would go to Mission Worlds.

Among them, Yang Hui was the Grand General and the Commander-in-Chief. This was unquestionable; he held the highest authority of the Promis Legion and had the right to decide or veto anything regarding Prometheus Fortress.

Directly following him were Revil, Char, Sumeragi, Wang Liu Mei, Creuset, Flit, Jehart, Gopp, Mina, Murrue, and Natarle Badgiruel, who held the rank of General.

Although they were all Generals, they were responsible for different affairs. Sumeragi was the Chief of the General Staff, Wang Liu Mei was the Chief of Intelligence, and Creuset was the head of the special department while also serving as the Deputy Chief of Intelligence. Revil was the Commander of the First Fleet of Prometheus Fortress, Flit was the Commander of the Second Fleet, Jehart was the Commander of the Third Fleet, and so on. Mina, Murrue, and Natarle Badgiruel were the Commanders of the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Fleets, respectively. They were the top-tier commanders of the combat forces, second only to Yang Hui.

However, among them, Char, Jehart, and even Flit were more like figureheads. During combat, they would certainly follow Yang Hui's lead—laying out the general direction of the battle plan before the fight began, and then sortieing in their MS once the battle started. Command during the battle would mostly be left to their adjutants, such as Argreus.

Next were the Lieutenant Generals: Graham, Setsuna, Lyle, Tieria, Asemu, Char, Kira, Athrun, Woolf, Dole Frost, Fram Nara, Tianem, Stan Lee Hawkins, Argreus, Zechs, and others.

The Lieutenant Generals were basically split into two categories. Half were fleet commanders' adjutants or chiefs of staff—high-level commanders. The other half were the Ace MS pilots of Prometheus Fortress. Some would continue to form the top-tier Ace MS Squad with Yang Hui, serving as a guarantee to stabilize the battlefield or a trump card to turn the tide. Others would be assigned to various fleets to establish Ace Units and elite units for each fleet. They wouldn't have much administrative power; their ranks were more symbolic of their strength and status.

Further down, the ranks were similar to those in various worlds: Major General, Brigadier General, Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel, Major, Captain, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant... and so on.

Except for Yang Hui, the Generals, and the Lieutenant Generals who had already been decided, no one had been assigned the rank of Major General or below yet. Furthermore, several Lieutenant General positions were reserved because a large number of newcomers were about to arrive. Among them were outstanding commanders from various worlds, such as experienced and capable veterans like Douglas Bader and Victor Hancock from the UC world.

Those below naturally had to go through a certain amount of competition, testing, and evaluation. Only through these processes could it be determined who was suitable to be a commander, a squad leader, a captain, or just a soldier, placing them in the most appropriate positions.

With this opportunity, the entire decision-making layer agreed to build the framework of Prometheus Fortress and establish the rules, moving away from the previous disorganized state.

This framework was very similar to the structure of the Gundam UC world, but with one difference: the ranks of frontline combat members wouldn't necessarily always be lower than those of fleet commanders. They also had corresponding paths for promotion. This was to give them hope; after all, who among those who came here didn't have a bit of ambition?

Outside of this framework, there were three special departments. One was the Research Department. The scientific researchers there didn't hold military commissions but would hold civilian titles, also divided into ranks like Research Director, Project Leader, Team Leader, etc. Based on their level, they had one—and only one—power that increased with rank: the authority to decide on research projects. Moreover, all research projects had to be submitted to Yang Hui for review before being established; only after Yang Hui's approval could a project be confirmed and work begun.

Of course, Yang Hui was only filling in for now. In fact, he already had a better candidate in mind for the overall head of the Research Department: Aeolia Schenberg. He was the best candidate, a super monster who had single-handedly advanced the technological level of an entire world by 200 years.

The second special department... Yang Hui called it the Songstress Department. Currently, its members consisted only of Lacus.

But after careful consideration, Yang Hui felt this department was very necessary. In the world of Macross, the existence of songstresses was a cheat code!

Singing on a battlefield might seem ridiculous to some, but if the voices of the songstresses in Macross truly possessed special power, boosting morale would be the least of it. As super supports who could strengthen allies and weaken enemies through Fold Waves, they were indispensable in both games and reality.

Unsurprisingly, Macross was a world Yang Hui had to visit. Songstresses were one reason, and the Macross warships were another; they were the core of the Promis Legion fleet in Yang Hui's vision and absolutely could not be given up.

Finally, there was the department that managed the daily operations of Prometheus Fortress. This department might seem unimportant to some but was vital to others. Currently, the staff at Prometheus Fortress was small and consisted of very familiar people who didn't need managing—they would work hard if told what to do. But what about the future? As the fortress grew and the number of personnel increased, management would naturally be needed. This included the Trading Zone; with five worlds now connected, shops were opening one after another to facilitate cross-world trade. Management, coordination, security... well, maybe not security... but everything required dedicated people to handle.

After finishing all his instructions, Yang Hui returned to the research institute. Everything that could be delegated had been delegated, and Yang Hui believed everyone could handle their tasks well. His own most urgent matter was to work with the researchers to solve the technical problems they were currently facing and then complete the new Mobile Suits for everyone.
