A few moments ago he had been acting like the king of the prison block. Now he looked like a man standing at the edge of his own grave.

Ivan crashed onto the floor.

The moment his feet touched the ground he collapsed onto his hands and knees.

His entire body shook violently.
Air rushed into his lungs.
Every breath sounded desperate.
Like a drowning man who had finally broken through the surface of the water.

His chest rose and fell rapidly.
His throat burned.
His vision still hadn't fully recovered.
For several seconds all he could do was breathe.
The two injured prisoners watching from the corner didn't say a word.
