Irina stood up.
She walked around the table until she was standing directly in front of Liam. He remained seated, looking up at her with clear curiosity in his eyes. For a moment neither of them spoke. The air between them felt heavier than before.
Then she did something he never thought she would do in a million years.
She stepped forward, placed one knee on either side of his legs, and sat down on his lap. Her weight settled fully against him. Without hesitation she took both of his hands and guided them around her waist, pressing his palms firmly against the soft curve just above her lower back.
Liam's eyes widened slightly.
"Irina… what are you doing?"
She did not answer right away. Instead she looked straight into his eyes. Her cold, captivating gaze was steady and completely clear.
"I have a clear head now," she said quietly. "And I know what I want."
Before Liam could respond, she leaned in and kissed him.
