Noah, who had previously been fighting Thanos head-on, had now shifted into a supporting role.
Of course, he wasn't purely supporting.
What Noah was doing now was assisting Thor and Loki while carefully observing Thanos.
After battling Thanos for quite some time, Noah was already completely certain of the general level of power in this universe.
Purely in terms of offensive output, the heroes here were not weak at all.
Mystic arts, magic, lightning, technology-every kind of power was being used to its extreme.
It could even be called terrifying.
But Noah had also noticed a very clear problem.
The lifeforms of this universe viewed defense very differently from those in Noah's universe.
Whether or not this was because Noah himself had influenced things elsewhere, one fact remained clear-every special profession in Noah's universe had decent defensive capabilities.
Back at Hogwarts, Noah had learned a large number of defensive spells.
After coming into contact with elemental magic, he mastered more orthodox defensive techniques like magic shields.
And at Kamar-Taj, even though the sorcerers there weren't particularly strong in pure defensive spells, their methods were even more infuriating.
They could enter dimensional space directly.
Enemies couldn't even touch them.
Or they could rely on elemental defenses, just like Noah.
Their approaches were diverse.
This universe, however, matched the movie universe Noah remembered.
When he had been watching those movies, he hadn't felt much.
But now, experiencing it firsthand, Noah was certain-
High attack.
Low defense.
That was the defining feature.
Thanos himself was the clearest example.
The reason he was so durable and could fight for so long wasn't because of refined defensive techniques.
It was his innate physical qualities.
In Noah's memory, this guy was practically a template for a god.
Unmatched strength, wisdom, stamina, regeneration, agility.
Skin that resisted cold, heat, electricity, radiation, poison, aging, and disease.
Even his mental defenses were nearly absolute.
Most mental attacks were meaningless against him.
Of course, that was the comic version.
In this universe, Noah wasn't so sure.
At the very least, the "absolute mental immunity" part clearly didn't apply.
Otherwise, Thanos wouldn't have been briefly controlled by Mantis, only to be punched awake by an idiot.
Still, even weakened, Thanos's Tenth-Tier foundation was intact.
That was why Noah had fought so carefully earlier.
But now, things were different.
After Noah had pierced him earlier, Thanos's defensive integrity had already been broken open.
And that opening would only grow.
Now that Thanos was facing two Infinity Stone wielders at the same time, Noah only needed to wait for a larger opening-
Then finish it.
It had to be said.
The combat power displayed by Thor and Loki while wielding Infinity Stones left even Noah slightly stunned.
In a single exchange-
With Noah using space and time to reposition them faster and more unexpectedly-
And using time itself to interfere with Thanos-
Thanos was forced into an even more terrifying opening.
Power Stone.
Reality Stone.
Along with the Space Stone and Time Stone.
At that moment, unimaginable power erupted.
The strike nearly blasted a massive crater straight through the Earth.
And Thanos paid a heavy price for it.
Noah, waiting within his domain, noticed everything immediately.
At the same time, he once again condensed that faint golden longsword.
Six powers.
Six elements.
As those forces gathered inside his domain once more, Thor and Loki instantly understood his intent.
Two figures-
One wrapped in red and blue.
The other in purple and silver.
They charged into the magma-filled battlefield from opposite sides.
They locked Thanos down immediately, trapping him in place.
Thanos's condition was already terrible.
The wound in his chest, pierced by Noah earlier, was still expanding.
But he had no time to deal with it.
Thor and Loki's power made him deeply uncomfortable.
Infinity Stones.
This was the first time he had ever experienced their power being used against him.
He had encountered the Mind Stone before, but that stone wasn't suited to him.
These two-
Whether familiar or not-
Truly surprised him.
After forcing back their attacks once again, Thanos finally felt it.
He was probably going to die here.
His army was gone.
His body was failing.
The Avengers were waiting outside, ready to move.
And most importantly-
That Sorcerer Supreme from a parallel universe, the one who had nearly killed him once already, was finishing that terrifying sword again.
Faced with this situation, Thanos accepted it calmly.
No rage.
No resentment.
He had slaughtered countless worlds.
Fought for an immeasurable span of time.
All for a single belief.
But Thanos also knew-
As long as certain terrifying existences existed, his goal might never be realized.
Not every universe would allow him to succeed.
He understood that.
Even if he was displeased that he had personally come to this universe only to walk into death-
Failure was still failure.
The only thing that pained him was that he hadn't achieved his goal.
Feeling his right hand and right foot suppressed by irresistible force, and his left limbs frozen solid, Thanos stopped resisting.
He knew the sorcerer was coming.
As expected, space before him blurred.
Time and space bound his body even tighter.
Watching that golden sword tear through space-piercing even through time-and plunge into his already ruined chest, Thanos knew this was the end.
"It's over..."
The light sword entered his body without resistance.
Then it exploded.
Terrifying power erupted from within.
In an instant, Thanos's body was completely destroyed by Noah's magic.
Unless someone wielded all six Infinity Stones-
Or reversed time-
No one could save him.
"Cough... cough..."
Dark, non-human blood spilled from Thanos's mouth.
Yet he looked up at Noah in the sky.
"Looks like... you won."
"Perhaps."
Noah's voice was calm.
He stepped out of space and stood before Thanos.
"But unfortunately, you're not from our universe."
"Otherwise, I'd be even happier."
"Cough... interesting..."
Thanos's voice was already breaking.
Anyone could tell he was at the end.
"Tell me."
"In your universe... could I succeed?"
Noah looked at the dying figure before him.
This wasn't an illusion.
Not a trick.
Thanos was truly dying.
He simply wanted answers.
"In our universe," Noah said calmly, "you basically couldn't succeed."
After confirming there was no saving him, Noah signaled Thor and Loki to release their hold.
He conjured four stone stools.
Sat down.
Then waved his hand, allowing Thanos to sit as well.
With Noah retracting his domain, the Avengers rushed to the edge of the massive crater.
They watched intently.
Listening.
"Because in our universe," Noah continued, "my teacher-the Ancient One-didn't die."
"And King Odin didn't either."
Noah smiled slightly.
"And you might not believe it, but my teacher has already completed divine transformation."
"And King Odin completed it long ago."
As a Tenth-Tier being, Thanos immediately understood what that meant.
Despite differences in power systems, the fundamentals were the same.
"I see..."
Thanos sighed.
"So your universe is safe."
"Does that mean I always fail?"
"Or succeed briefly, then fail?"
"Not necessarily."
Noah shook his head.
"Your chance of failure is one in fourteen million."
"Unfortunately, you came from a universe where success was impossible."
"And this universe is also one where you cannot succeed."
"One in fourteen million..."
Thanos laughed weakly.
"How interesting."
"Am I just unlucky?"
"Perhaps."
Noah shrugged.
"I don't know about other universes."
"But in mine, you absolutely can't succeed."
"In some universes, you do."
"That has nothing to do with me."
"I only care about my universe."
"I'm here to complete my teacher's mission."
"So in the end..."
"I'm still unlucky."
Thanos's body faded further.
Color drained from him.
Noah looked down at the wound he had inflicted.
He felt a trace of satisfaction.
And something else he couldn't quite describe.
Shaking his head, Noah looked at Thanos's fading face.
"Well then."
"Goodbye, Thanos."
"...Ah."
Thanos barely managed to respond.
"This ending..."
"But before you go," Noah added, "there's one thing I really want to tell you."
"Say it," Thanos replied faintly. "While I'm still alive."
"You're really ugly."
"Do all Titans look like that?"
"..."
