Chapter 183 - Chapter 185: Temple Exploration

As we all know, space folding is a fairly common technology in the wizarding world. For example, Mr. Weasley's car and Ryan's space bag.

But the builder of this temple is the real genius. He built this huge temple directly into the folded space. This may be the reason why the school has been built on it for so many years without discovering it.

In Ryan's perception, this space was somewhat similar to the Emerald Dream. Perhaps it was what Aunt Betty, the centaur, had said about some powerful wizards being able to directly cut off space from the Emerald Dream and materialize it in the real world. However, Ryan had never imagined that someone could actually materialize a space as large as a mountain.

Standing at the entrance of the passage was not a good idea, especially when you didn't know when the passage would come alive and crush the people inside it. So Ryan and Hermione quickly walked out of the hole and came to the temple square.

The square wasn't much larger than the temple, but it was roughly the size of a standard football field. It was paved with a vermilion rock, resembling a sea of blood. A path, leading directly to the entrance of the pyramid temple, divided the square in two. On either side of the path stood a dense mass of totem poles.

Each totem pole was vividly carved with a creature. Some of them Ryan and his companions had seen in textbooks, but others they had never seen before. Walking along the path, Ryan could sense the magical power emanating from the totem poles. However, as shown in the memory fragments he had received earlier, the Blood God Cult and the Chimera Society had only discovered this place six months ago and had not had time to study the function of these totem poles. Therefore, Ryan and his companions were able to smoothly follow the path through the totem poles and reach the pyramid gate.

As we approached the pyramid, the patterns on the structure gradually became clearer. We could see various monster totems carved into the entire structure, and a massive monster carved into the entrance. Its gaping mouth served as the main entrance to the pyramid temple, while the columns supporting the doorway resembled the monster's sharp teeth. The entire entrance gave off a terrifying feeling.

"Follow me!" Ryan took a deep breath and turned to Hermione behind him. Hermione nodded and tightened her wand.

Ryan did not walk into the main road facing the gate in the porch at this time. Instead, he walked a short distance to the left after passing through the porch and came to a monster sculpture. He took out his wand and tapped the monster's claws in a specific rhythm.

After the hammering ended, the monster's claws suddenly lifted, revealing a hole over a meter in diameter. A wooden ladder led down from the hole. This was the most valuable thing Ryan had found in that pile of memories. The path leading to the Blood God Cult's headquarters was a direct path, but there were numerous guards and traps along the way. Ryan felt that there was no way he could force his way through with only one person.

However, within this massive, mountain-like pyramid, a spiderweb of passages stretched like a dense web. Neither the Blood God Cult nor the Chimera Society had the energy to clear every one of them. The fake professor, in a memory, had once glanced at a map on a stone wall and had memorized this never-cleared passage leading directly to the central hall of the temple, the headquarters of the Cult. Records indicated this passage as the Servant's Passage.

The only problem was that the map itself had some flaws. A section of the passageway on the stone map was no longer legible due to severe weathering. But compared to fighting his way through head-on with such a burden, Ryan was willing to take the risk.

After casting a head-bubble spell on himself and Hermione, Ryan and the others went down the ladder into the passage. As soon as they reached the ground, the monster sculpture on the top lowered its claws to cover the hole.

Everything was immersed in darkness.

Ryan first let green snake in his pocket crawl to the front to explore the way. Then he heard rapid breathing sounds coming from behind him. It seemed that the darkness brought great psychological pressure to people.

"Lumos" Ryan lit his wand, then handed it to his left hand and picked up Clingwell's tooth with his right hand. After all, the Viking heritage he mastered, Clingwell's tooth, was a magical weapon that was more suitable for unleashing the various spells in the heritage than a wand.

"Don't worry, as far as I know, this road is the safest road in the temple. You will be fine as long as you follow me." Ryan whispered to comfort Hermione who was a little nervous behind him.

What gave him this confidence was the Eagle Eye technique he acquired last summer. Because he had chosen the improved version of Eagle Eye, Ryan spent some time refining it after acquiring natural magic and studying magic runes. Now, after activating Eagle Eye, he could sense subtle magical inductions in his surroundings, allowing him to discover magical traps or treasures.

This made him feel fortunate that he had not chosen genetic modification, something whose principles he had no idea about, but instead chose the magic version, which was a little worse but he could figure it out through research himself, and could be upgraded as his overall strength and knowledge level increased.

With the help of Eagle Vision, Ryan could see that although the road under his feet was just a shortcut to the temple, there were still many magic traps set up. Based on the magic energy emitted, it can be judged that some of these traps are still in operation at least today.

However, perhaps because this path was once used by servants of low power, the traps within were not high-level, making it easy for Ryan to discover and circumvent them. The only difficulty was that as a servant passage, it naturally had the lowest construction priority.

Therefore, the entire passage zigzagged left and right, up and down, and sometimes even had to pass through narrow caves. After all, this passage was originally used by the lowest of the low in the temple, and it had to make way for almost all other passages in the temple. During their journey, green snake was a great help. In many places, it had to scout and confirm that there was no danger before Ryan and his team went through.

Ryan also found a few rooms on the way. Unfortunately, from the remaining things in these rooms, it can be seen that they were either sundry warehouses or servants' residences. There were only some severely weathered and dilapidated furniture and completely blackened corn stalks in them. It was estimated that if a mouse came, it would run away crying.

After walking for more than ten minutes, just before Ryan and his companions were almost driven crazy by these narrow, dark and hot passages, Ryan finally received a message from green snake in front of him, saying that it was now in a relatively spacious space, but could not find the way forward.

It seems that this is the weathered part of the map. At least I can finally walk out of this tunnel. Ryan thought about it and quickened his
